Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 30, 2011 4:04 pm We are about to start the process with Coral Homes and after reading lots of posts I have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys can help answer for me. We have modified the Coolum 32 slightly and as I'm currently pregnant with my fourth child and due in 16 weeks I'm wanting to get started on things before I get too many appointments, school activities, being an air-head due to being pregnant and having to deal with gumpy children. So these are my three questions relating to the whole tile process: 1. I have contacted our sc and he has told me that we have $86 for tile and installation in the living area to work with. Can anyone tell me what price I'd be looking at just for the tiles? 2. In the wet area's what price do you have to work with here? My sc thinks that I'm out of my mind thinking this far ahead especially when we haven't gone to council yet. 3. We are located near Strathpine do I have to go to Loganholm to do my selections or can I go locally? Hope you can help as I want to get things in place so that I'm not about to give birth and I have tile selections to make. We are building a modified version of the stradbroke 279 at the monent with Coral. We are on brisbanes south side. We never got our main living areas through Coral - we found it too expensive. We weren't given a $ amount to work with. We went to Beaumont and they told us where the range covered was. I already knew what I wanted when I went in, so didn't really look around. You can upgrade but you just pay the extra. We have our main floor tiles on layby with beaumont and we will get our own tiler after handover. We paid extra for feature tiles. I think you have to go to Loganholme. They seem to do all corals tiles and all the info/plans etc are on their computer system. You make an appointment with them. They have been great to deal with. I don't think you can do the selections until you have all the paperwork for the colour appointment though. We have a coral homes thread going. Others might be able to answer your question better. I will find the thread and post the link Re: Building with Coral in Mango Hill + Beaumont Tiles 4Jun 30, 2011 9:04 pm Hey, we're also doing a Stradbroke with Coral and yeah same with us, no $$ figure, just a certain range. You don't have to go to Loganholme. We did ours at Oxenford, near our block, but had the option to go to Loganholme, and my memory is playing tricks on me, but I think Capalaba may have been an option for us too. We didn't do the rest of the tiling through Coral as it was much cheaper to arrange this ourselves. Though I did select tiles from Beaumont as I wanted to match everything through the house. I went to all the suppliers and made my selections (got samples of everything) and then went to the Colour Selections house (which is my case was in Hervey Bay - 1.5 hours away) and gave them the final selections I had made with the colour consultant. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building with Coral in Mango Hill + Beaumont Tiles 6Jul 01, 2011 10:46 am Thanks for all your replies I am still somewhat confused but thats only because of lack of sleep and the effort of looking after the kids especially my youngest who is really sick at the moment. Tamara1975 you stated that 'I don't think you can do the selections until you have all the paperwork for the colour appointment though.' Thank you for that I'm hoping that I MIGHT get this all done prior to the end of October because after that it might be very very difficult especially as the baby will have arrived. My husband is taking some long service leave but it'll still be difficult operating on broken sleep as I'm sure our new addition will have NO IDEA mum is trying to select colours, tiles and everything else. Also thanks for the link. I might just go into one of the Beaumont Tile outlets near us and just have a look around. That might help me get my head around what I'll need to do. Here is another question for you. 'If you get your own tiler to install the tiles and you have purchased your tiles are you saving much on doing it this way?' Thanks everyone..... Megan It is great to be organised before hand. I guess you could make your decisions on colours before and when you have your official appointment at beaumont, it will be quick and easy. Our tiles for the main floor area cost us $1600 including delivery. We got them there on special for $20 sqm down from $44 sqm. We estimate that the laying will be at the most, $2500. Coral said carpet and tiles will be around $11000 for the whole house. Our carpet is costing us around $3500. So all up for carpet and tiles we are paying around $7600 - saving us $3400. Re: Building with Coral in Mango Hill + Beaumont Tiles 8Sep 07, 2011 8:27 pm Beaumont Tiles are able to match/beat competitors prices. I was able to get a quote from ******** tiles and Beaumont beat their price. The tile i was chasing was a polished porcelain Super White 600x600 sealed tile. It's just a plain white tile. I'm extremely happy with their service and advice at the Loganholme store. Re: Building with Coral in Mango Hill + Beaumont Tiles 9Sep 08, 2011 9:22 am Hi, We were building our new home as well a while ago. We initially had our mainfloor in contract with the builder but realised that they were ripping us off. Since we were choosing our tiles for our bathrooms and ensuite with Beaumont Tiles we asked for a quote for our mainfloor and we got it for such a good price we went ahead with it. The store at Loganholme was fantastic, amazing service and our daughters was even entertained in the kids room while me and my wife selected our tiles. We highly recommend Beaumont Tiles over any other tile shop, especially the Loganholme store. Good onya Beaumonts Re: Building with Coral in Mango Hill + Beaumont Tiles 10Sep 08, 2011 7:46 pm going with the builder basically means you are limited to the tiles you can choose for the same money. we went on our own and got full polished 600x600 travertine tiles which cost us $24sqm and $30sqm to lay them.
