Browse Forums Building A New House Re: and so it begins... 101May 24, 2012 11:43 am Thanks Mclaren! Marybond- I really hope they are hearing you. Its not right to have the worry that the family you are building this house for are put in the situation that they need a home, a home your paying good money for them to build, and they cant get their a**into gear to get you in within a reasonable time frame. I woke up this morning (did I actually sleep???) and decided that I cant keep getting on the phone to deal with them. I have going to try and organise a meeting with one of the bosses. DH agreed that it was the way to go and to set it up for the both of us. Re: and so it begins... 102May 24, 2012 10:16 pm Well we had luck twice today. The water tank people are very helpful and have brought us forward and booked our tank in ASAP so that will start on 1st June. Both the people were so lovely and its a huge relief. Then the Client Liason Officer rang and said we are booked in to start on 1 June also. So things will be starting next week. I told her how we wanted to speak to someone and she said she didnt really know who we could see but she would look into it. As I said to DH surely she has a boss? I hope she doesnt think Ill forget about it coz Im not gonna. I really dont like the fact that to get anything done you have to jump up and down. Unfortunately if thats whats gotta be done to get this thing built then thats what we've gotta do. Re: and so it begins... 103May 25, 2012 12:20 am wooooo hooooo Congratulations and yes she has a boss, the person you would speak to would be the Customer Service Manager I am soo happy for you... I hope it is all smooth sailing from here on out Re: and so it begins... 104May 25, 2012 1:28 pm Yayyy for a start date It sounds like the CLO was trying to fob you off As marybond said, of course she has a boss and she should know exactly who you need to speak to but they probably try to avoid things going that far. Keep on them, it can only work in you favour, even if it means they hurry things along to get you off their back Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: and so it begins... 105May 26, 2012 3:50 pm Well apparently we have been directed to a Sales Manager. CLO says he will ring to discuss 'our experiences until now'. I known nothing about the chain of commmand in building but to me a sales manager is simply the boss of the sales reps. We dont have an issue with our sales rep, in fact he's been their saving grace. Its the 8 months after our file left his hands that we've had a problem with. and so it begins... 106May 27, 2012 12:26 am Hope things move quickly for you, we signed in feb 11 did our selections sep slab went down nov and house completed may 12, it took longer for them to get organised (yet council was done in a few weeks not months) then the the actual build time but now it's ours it doesn't seem that bad. Good luck! Jasmin Hickinbotham Belmont - modified Signed: February 2011 Slab should go down before 2012 My build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=52310&p=799483#p799483 Ventura Build. 11 months in and still no slab. 107May 27, 2012 12:52 pm We cant complain about our council either- our approval was in prior to pre start and they have been great. heres a breakdown of our 'build' so far: June 2011- Paid deposit for PPP and soil feasability test Sept 2011- Signed contracts for build Nov 2011- Prestart Feb 2012- Plans and final costing back from pre start March 2012- Unconditional finance approval. May 2012- Owner earthworks completed May 2012-Appointed CLO June 2012- ? I cant see us starting on Friday We wont have water until Monday and it stipulates we need to provide water under pressure. Even when the tank is up and even if it was full we cant provide water under pressure because the builder hasnt done the power run in so we wont be able to run the pump. When I spoke to the CLO she didnt realise they were doing the power run in until I pointed it out and she saw the $7000 PS amount for power and phone run in on our addenda. I also havent received anything in writing about starting on Friday nor have I received a call from any site supervisor or whoever it is is taking over at the site. Dh says just leave it and let them worry about it. If they show up Friday and they cant start because they have no water or power then its up to them to sort out. It just means it will delay our build even more. Re: and so it begins... 108May 30, 2012 8:49 pm Well instead of waiting for a call Dh and I dropped in and had a meeting with the Sales Manager and our CLO. They admitted everything that could go wrong has gone wrong and that the person responsible for that (our prestart lady) was given the boot. We were not the only customers she messed up and they cost the company alot of money (not our concern and DH pointed out she has cost US alot of money in rent). They appologised and said all they can do is move forward and do the things that should have been done had it been done properly. We had our say, and now we can move forward. Im just a little concerned that we have relied on this prestart lady for our dream home and I cant help but wonder what if she has messed things up that we dont know about. There is nothing we can do but wait. Ive gone over our plans and addenda so hoping it should be ok but its still a niggle in the back of my mind. Anyway, we met the slab super yesterday and he said we are good to go on Fri. Still confused over the power situation but he said he will get a generator in to power the water pump. Surveyers have pegged the site for the concrete today and so heres hoping this time next week we will have, or be really close to having, a slab. So wish I could have a drink when we go over to crack a slab on the slab. I think I deserve it!!!! Re: and so it begins... 109May 30, 2012 11:55 pm Sounds like they are on top of things now and hopefully extremely eager to get things moving along to try and make up for some lost time. Only 2 more sleeps till Friday and then you'll have a beautiful big bit of concrete Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: and so it begins... 110Jun 02, 2012 3:51 pm Good luck with it JuJuB,hopefully no more surprises or probs pop up,may the worry free, fast housing gods smile down on you both Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! Mine incorporates people actually doing something. The only thing done is the mesh has been delivered. That is it. Anyway, at least our tank is almost finished. It will be fully completed and water put in it tomorrow. I am so happy with it and love the colour (Ironstone) its the same colour as our roof will be. Ill chuck a pic up tomorrow once its finished. Re: and so it begins... 112Jun 07, 2012 9:21 pm Well we now finally have a tank and footings and the membrane for the slab. I had to hook up the pump to the water tank so they could do the termite treatment and with a 7 month belly- man that was a mission from god. Dh said he was very proud, especially considering my big fat guts (and boy my belly is HUGE!) and showed his mates at work my handywork. I tell ya, it wouldnt have been an attractive thing to watch lol. Nobody was out there today but it was pretty wet so I suppose thats acceptable. Hopefully they will prep for the concrete tomorrow- who knows. I just know we need to have it done before Tuesday otherwise we cant do the slab clean (god know why we have to clean up after the people who did the footings???). Finally we have something happening and we can picture the rooms. I even managed to have a look at the plan today without any distaste! YAY! Oh and we paid our deposit for the timber tiles we are having (everywhere but the media/bedrooms/office/baths and laundry). Not exactly sure on the colour but love the idea of a wood look with the ease and durability of tile. Ill try and find a pic later. WOHOO- FINALLY A SLAB!!!! 113Jun 12, 2012 9:09 pm YAY!!!! we finally have a slab. it was layed yesterday and looks awesome. Not much to add really other than that. I said Id be really happy once we had the slab down. I was right. I am really happy the slab is down. Here's some pics: The tank. I love the retaining wall DH did this weekend. You will make them feel bad, might give them a kick up the ### that they need. Everything WILL workout, try not to stress yourself,i know its hard but everything always seems to work out somehow. Its all starting to come together now without me having to make any noise. (thank god- Im to tired to care to be honest lol) Marybond- we do have bricks. My poor son, just as there was a break in the rain I got him out of the rain to have a play at the block and I heard the truck arrive with them. He was so unhappy having to leave while I was so excited coz we finally have bricks! There is also a trench dug for the power. The slab has been down for nearly a week so if weather permits, hopefully soon they will start the brickwork. Kerry-Ann- we got our tank through Rhino tanks. They have been fantastic to deal with! It is a 234,000lt tank and cost us $17275. $16750 for the tank installed (we did the pad for the tank with our earthworks) and $525 for the rainsaver caps. We decided on the rainsaver caps as by the time we are ready to hook it up to the pops the rainy time would have passed. Weve already collected about 10,000lts of the tank roof so I think it was a good investment. Got and email stating bricklayer has a job which he will finish end of NEXT week then hopes to start ours -weather permitting. Hopes to!- Grrrrr I just thought- arent we supposed to have a site supervisor at this stage? I have heard nothing, other than the accounts woman sending me a overdue notice for the first progress payment (which they gave us 3 days to organise and didnt return my call when I rang to enquire about how we actually are supposed to organise the payment). Like Im gonna rush to sort that one out after the delays they have caused- its not like they are in any hurry to move it along. Bl**dy Ventura!
