Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 19, 2008 8:43 am Hi, has anyone had experience with Indigo homes and Plantation homes?
I am buliding in QLD and choosing between the Indigo "Sierra" or the Plantation "Retreat" . The retreat has an extra 20sq meters for the same price but I have read of some bad experiences with plantation. Many thanks for replies....barry Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 2Jan 19, 2008 10:22 am Hi Barry
I believe that Plantation Homes is equivalent to H3nley Homes in Vic. The H3nley property group are very large in Vic. I was looking to build with them in Victoria but had heard some concerning things about the quality of their homes. Having said that, I still see a large number of H3nley homes being built. I love the floor plan of the Retreat, but love the Sierra, it's beautiful! How wide is your block? robdog88 ![]() Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 3Jan 19, 2008 1:38 pm INDIGO INDIGO INDIGO INDIGO...
Walk through the Pl@ntation Homes "Terrace" display at Springfield Lakes, you won't find a straight wall! On the other hand the quality of Indigo Homes looks exceptional. I would build with them if they did one-off custom designs, which they don't, but they will modify existing plans. Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 4Jan 19, 2008 7:50 pm Thanks for the reply Rob, our block is 51m wide so no problem with the Sierra but we will probably go with the smaller version (260)..thanks barry

Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 6Jan 20, 2008 6:06 pm My vote is definately for Indigo. We had chosen the Sierra as well but the block up the road signed up two days before we did and they won't do two houses the same that close, which is fine with us. It is a beautiful home.
My friends are building with Plantation, they haven't had many problems so far, but now there is a 2 year wait to start building because they are so busy. Jet Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 7Jan 21, 2008 3:57 pm We are building with Plantation Homes at the moment and don't really have any complaints with them at all. Construction seems to be progressing at a steady rate, our site supervisor is fantastic and any problems that have been found have been fixed promptly. We are nearly at lock up stage. We also saw display homes for Indigo Homes but found the house we wanted through them too expensive.
I would recommend Plantation if you were going with them but I do know that people that sign up now have a long wait ahead of them.... Hope that helps. Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 8Jan 22, 2008 12:03 pm we're also building with plantation homes and haven't had any major issues.. but we only have a slab, our frame should be starting today
back when we signed up (July '07) we were told 11 months, we've been told we should be in by June so that sounds about right.... Plantation Homes - The Meridian - http://ourmeridian.blogspot.com/ Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 9Jan 22, 2008 2:18 pm Yes, we were told 11 months as well, when we signed up in April....we're hoping to be in by then.
We just got given a new site supervisor and he's great! Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 10Jan 22, 2008 2:26 pm ![]() My vote is definately for Indigo. Re: choice between indigo homes and plantation homes 12Jan 23, 2008 8:35 am ![]() Some builders don't wanna ruin their reputation but reproducing the same design within proximity to another. Exclusivity. That's what we think. It is such an unusual design. When we started looking at other designs we found that the Sierra just didn't have enough living spaces for us. No offence to people building with Plantation, but I am soooo sick of seeing the same designs everywhere. Especially in our area there are so many Meridians and Retreats, they all look a little different because of what people have chosen to use as the facade but you can still easily recognise them. I just drive past and think "I know what your house looks like inside". Actually, there are not many people building near us at all, we were lucky to buy a sub-divided block in an area that has been established for years. We built with Indigo and hd handover today! No compliants. I'd like to revise the above statement, we are building with Plantation Homes and have had nothing but problems.
