Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 201Oct 21, 2011 9:22 pm Can't believe you've been in for 7 weeks already ... that has really flown. Did everything fit as you imagined? Or have you got stuff hidden away cause you can't find a home for it? We had a big clean out last week-end, got rid of all the crap I couldn't convince my husband to dispose of before we relocated from Brissy. As for my place, I dropped around this evening (with cleaning products in hand ready to clean ... sigh) and found the fencers had finished, so we are now fully fenced Looks like a different house with a fence down the side. Concreter had been and has cut into the gutter ready to chip it out for the driveway and had an enormous pile of crusher dust delivered ready to get started on the drive and paths. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 202Oct 22, 2011 1:50 am Honestly, I have been slack and the study and spare room still look like bomb sites!! I was thinking the other day that I should sort them out this weekend. We still have to buy a bed for the spare room. I think we will have room for everything. We still have to deck the laundry out with cabinets and we still need a garden shed for all the bits and pieces though. We don't have a back fence yet, so don't want to get the shed until the fence is up. The landscaping will be a slow process, but should come together quickly now. The pool fencing should be finished soon. Hubby has been doing that on his days off. We still don't have paths, but have ordered the pavers and will just put stones down. I am off to rocklea markets on sunday to buy plants. That is the bit I am looking forward to! I have bought some stain for the fences, so I will try and get that done this weekend too. Well it has just started raining here, just when we want to start moving. ------------ Sent from my mobile device ... please excuse the typing missed cakes. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 204Oct 26, 2011 9:10 pm Hows the move going?? Looking forward to seeing pics ... Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 205Oct 26, 2011 9:58 pm Sorry ... long days at work and then visiting the house to unpack at the moment. We'll be moving in fully on the week-end - only part moved in at the moment. I took lots of photos but most of them are blurry, I've attached a couple on here, best of a bad bunch. Media room - hard to get a pic, but this is the back wall, two wall lights (dimming) which will be behind the lounge. Wall colour is Dulux Mallard, black curtains and carpet is from Choices Flooring a touch darker than the mallard paint - but still the grey/purple. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Media room again - looking into the room through the double sliding doors - black curtain (not hanging properly in the picture). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Family room with the new lounge only, looking from the kitchen, floor mat wasn't down and tv etc aren't there yet. Ignore the cable hanging from the roof, the sparky cut the speaker holes too big so now we've got the expense and run around of finding bigger speakers that will fit those cut-outs. Pain in the butt as you can't buy anything in this town, we need to get it online ... sigh. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Utility room - (clinic for remedial massage business) - this is looking from the internal door, blinds still to go up (verticals), plus the curtain to divide waiting area from treatment area. I had just mopped so the floor looks streaky - didn't think to wait till it dried before I took a pic. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Main bedroom - curtains still to go up, but just had to share the gorgeous view we've created for ourselves from our bedroom. Either that or have the main window looking into the patio area where we wouldn't get natural light - so I changed the windows around. We'll create garden or something to pretty it up. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Good news is we have all the flooring in now, curtains are up (except for the ones where I obviously can't read and bought ready mades too narrow ) and the driveway went in today. New lounge arrived yesterday and the floor rug I ordered for the family room arrived today - the best bit is they look fantastic together I was looking at it all tonight and the first thing that popped into my head was Tam, where you went dark, I went the exact opposite and went light (except for the carpet!) I'm still undecided with the children/dusty area if it was the right choice ... but oh well, looks good at the moment. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 206Oct 27, 2011 6:42 am Wow, it looks fabulous!! Well done. I love the light colours. For some reason, I am drawn to dark colours, but I combined it with white for balance. I think next time I would bite the bullet and go light lol. Have you got pics of your bathrooms and kitchen? Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 207Oct 27, 2011 4:54 pm Hi all. My husband and I are currently waiting on our tender from Coral Homes. We are building the Marcoola 32 (slightly modified for our needs) plan in the eastern suburbs of Brisbane. To say we are excited is a complete understatement, we are currently living with the in laws so the day we get our keys can't come fast enough! I have been lurking in the shadows of the forum for quite some time now and have found the wealth of information unbelievable. It is also very re-assuring to see how happy you all are with Coral, this is our first build (but second home). My husband is a plumber so he has a pretty good idea of the industry and will be keeping a watchful eye over everything, luckily we only live about 2 minutes away from our block so we'll be able to visit everyday! I'm just hanging out for that first little hint of construction to start, even a 'Coral Homes' sign on our block would make my day! Em Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 208Mar 27, 2012 12:43 pm hi all! We're in the process of selling the coral home i built in 2009, so we can built a new one closer to town We haven't paid any deposits etc yet, but the lovely ladies from HO were nice enough to email me through the colour selection sheets for both eclipse and indulgence so I can make sure I include any upgrades we would like in our tender as opposed to having a variation after the finishes appointment - I have two question for ya'll: 1. Are coral still using boral bricks in QLD? or are we back to PGH? 2. They used to have a list of the standard laminates in the finishes book - now they do not. Can anyone advise which laminates they have used with Coral and not been charged an upgrade fee for? Or vice versa? Thanks!!!!! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 209Mar 27, 2012 12:49 pm Hi Jess - I have read your first Coral blog so many times over it's not funny - It's nice to see how it all works and comes together while we're in the admin stage. We're waiting on our start date to issue at the moment and we should be able to get started very soon! Coral are still using the Boral bricks - Horizon, Oasis Impressions & Oasis Coast are standard bricks. With laminates, we could choose any colour we wanted without extra cost but if we upgraded to for instance silk finish on the cupboard doors, it was $200 odd for the whole kitchen. I have prices for a heap of upgrades if you would like any more info you can PM me if you like (we're in Brisbane East area). I'll be starting a blog soon, once we have a start date I'd say. Em Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 210Mar 27, 2012 4:50 pm Hi Em! You're nearly up to the super exciting bit I'll shoot you a PM with some particular items I'm curious about - this build will be VERY different for me as last time I did it alone - this time I have to take my man along for the ride thank the lord he doesn't really care about colours etc... Can't wait to see your build take off! Did you go with the eclipse or indulgence inclusions? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 211Mar 31, 2012 12:31 pm Hi Jess. I have also read your thread when were were getting ready to build lol. Yours and Bec from down the coast lol. What plan are you looking at building this time around? We built the stradbroke 279 and have been in 7 months. They have changed the plan a bit and have called it something else. A lot of the changes we made to our house have now been incorporated into the new plans they are building now. Re: Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 212Mar 31, 2012 10:14 pm Hi Tamara! I did notice that they've "reinvented" some of the plans - good to see they're obviously taking notice of what the customer wants We're looking at purchasing on a smaller block in an estate closer to town, so taking into account narrower lot width we're quite besotted with the Avoca 25- we looked through the Avoca 24 display, and loved it, however were concerned about it only having 3 beds - but when we spoke to the sales consultant they presented us with an Avoca 25 plan, that is at concept stage but they can definitely build if requested - this plan has 4 beds, 2 bath (ensuite with MASSIVE bath and my dream WIR), 2 living areas, study nook, and 2 outdoor areas - everything we need/want I'd only be making a few small changes (incorporating our wine fridge into the kitchen, pot drawers, upgrade appliances, built in desk to one of the beds, fireplace in family room, c/stone etc) and then I'd be happy as larry! At this stage I've worked out that it will be cheaper for us to take the indulgence package and add the extras that are important to us, rather than taking the eclipse package... So we wait, for our house to sell Then I'll start a thread and new blog, as hopefully we'll be on to it as soon as we have an unconditional contract on the property... 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Coral Builders come on in for a chat! 213Apr 01, 2012 1:18 pm It is great to see some new Coral Builders here ... I've been following a few of the threads. The updated Coral plans look great ... I noticed the one we built has incorporated some of our modifications in the new plans, plus some things I wished we'd included ... lol. ------------ Sent from my mobile device ... please excuse the typing missed cakes. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption.
