Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 24, 2011 9:28 pm We're building a split level house. Slabe was poured last week, frames went up today, so we had a quick sticky beak.... The frame at the end of the upper level rests on the floor of the lower level. However, this frame isnt against the upper level slab, meaning that the upper level slab ends, there's some empty space mid air, and then there's frame. Is this a concern? I dont think they can move said frame against the wall as it would probably push everything in front of it on the upper level off the edge of the slab. How is something like this rectified? Is some sort of flooring board put in to cover the gap? Is some extra timber attached to the frame to bring the wall in line with the edge of the slab? Most of the frame meets the split but of the areas of gap, mostly 2-3cms in the majority of spots, the worst spot is an area of about 5cm gap about 6 cm long. Thankfully the gap that is the biggest is located in what will be our guest bedroom BIR. They did not cover any of the gaps (but ours are smaller), flooring will just be laid over top.
