Hi everybody

It has been a very long time since I have updated this thread. To cut a very long story short, our build has been so slow that I didnt even have the motivation to post any more. We are now into our 14 month and only up to the tiling stage. Here are some photos of the tiling...Our laundry and powder room. I also have started a blog where you can get the whole story and my whinging :lol:

I must admit when I saw the tiles I was absolutely thrilled with how they looked. The walls have been done as well now as these photos were taken a few days ago. I must admit, the laundry is taking shape even better than I had imagined...these are all the positives so I just have to remember this when I get frustrated about how slow it is.

Sorry about the poor quality photos :oops:

but at least I was able to get a few as the tradies were still working in the house

You wont see any colours on the cabinets yet as they are just the carcasses(sp) in the photos.

very nice Mrs B. Did not know you have a blog. Just had a look, love your inspirational photos! It is a taking a while to build your house, is it because it is a custom builder?

I love the layout of your laundry - it is unique and has lots of storage. The tiling looks great - I am sure it will look stunning when the tiling and cabinets are completed. I understand how you feel about the slow progress on your house - I feel the same. I have just been informed that our house will not be completed before x-mas and handover will be probably mid Feb 2009(nearly 14 months).

It is a custom build and the reason it is taking so long is that the builder is very particular in what tradies he users. Also, for example all our windows were not standard, commercial grade with double glazing therefore special order. I could go on and on but it dosent change the fact it is not done before christmas :evil:

Really, there is no excuse but I have come to terms that it will be built and we just have to except it will take a long time.

Gees Braveheart, you must be so disappointed and you are so far ahead of us. There is nothing either of us can do other than hope the builders get their acts together and at least attempt :roll:

to move things along. Believe me, I am being so diplomatic on the forum...what I write and how I really feel are 2 different things :evil:

Mrs B, I rather have a good quality build that takes 14-16 months than a bad quality build that took 6 months! We had heaps of problems with the quality of our house. The time it takes to build will be forgotten once you move in, but a bad build will last forever...

Besides, that is what a blog is for, to whinge until your house is done, hehehe.

Hi Kexkez

Those boxes are for the Blum 'soft closing motion door' hardware...so that the overheads dont slam shut when pulled down. BTW...I was so excited when I saw you were following my blog

Its nice to know that someone out there in blog land wants to read what I post! Can you tell I am new to all this blog stuff hehe

I agree with what you wrote about a good quality build and all my friends remind me of this when I start the whinging. I have to just keep reminding myself to be patient and everything he has done has been exceptional. I just cant stand the lack of progress because it really worries me and I hope everything is alright

WOW! Just read your thread, all 28 pages of it! What a great Saturday night in! I know it has been said many times before, but WOW ( again! ), DROOL, LOVE IT!!! You are doing an amazing job of creating a stunning home. Sorry that you are feeling despondent, but hang in there, it will all be worth it and soon you can start with the really fun stuff like the wallpaper and those gorgeous couches. Can't wait for your next update now!

I am actually very honoured that you read the entire thread

I stopped posting 3 months ago because I thought 'whats the point' if there really is nothing to show. But I know the house will be built one day so why not share the journey on here. I also decided to start a blog because a house build only lasts a short while, it is the decorating and styling that makes it a home...I cant wait to start all this and the garden as well. Already I have been looking at sculptures for the front garden and planning the landscaping.

I have a thing about 'laundries' :lol:

so I was determined that my laundry was given as much thought and effort to the overall look as any other part of the house. So many times I heard..'its only a laundry' but why shouldnt it be just as nice as other rooms. The pictures are terrible as I was in a rush, I will take some much nicer ones from different angles. The floors tiles are very different, have this copper shimmer to them so I will try and take a good photo of this as well.

As said already, I love love your laundry! I thought I was happy with mine as its the first time EVER I'll actually have a bench... (albeit a very small one) but seeing yours makes we wish we'd had a bigger block of land that would have given us more floor space for a bigger laundry :wink:

Well done on starting a blog, I'm sure it will continue to inspire us all

I'm sorry to have only tile pictures, but I have waited 3 months for this to happen so I will make the most of it. Also, they ran out of tiles :lol:

am I worried...no,

Pictures are of the kids bathroom...the green mosiacs are just beautiful, thankgoodness for that! Ensuite have the same tiles.
