Like donuts, I'm interested to know waht you decided with the splashback colour... the entire wall? Jo Very good question Jo! I think he will now have the green doors like DS2... Reason, the blue is a soft beautiful colour but it wont last the distance of 10 years...the other colours will. I will have to consult with my colour consultant about this change As for the splashback, I am going to wait when the cupboards are in. That will give me a really good indication what will be needed. I'II take photos then ask for everyones opinion yet again Mrs B Mrs B Re: Our House 383Sep 14, 2008 10:26 am donuts Hooray for the Henna Red splashback Mrs B! It's going to look fantastic Are you going to extend the colour to the rest of the wall also? Do you have the rest of the kitchen colours yet? Hi Donuts, Very long story about the cabinets...wont bore everyone with the details (unless you want me to ) but we just met with the 'new' cabinet maker a few days ago The kitchen was suppose to be in this week Anyway, after reading about Martyme and Dee Elle, my problems are insignificant to what other people are going through...sometimes you need to put things in perspective. I have selected White 2 pac cupboards with a feature panel of American Walnut, 2 pac as well. Put that with the stone top and Red splasback, I hope it all comes together. Mrs B sounds gorgeous Re: Our House 388Sep 14, 2008 1:41 pm Love it all, Mrs B - glad the cabinet maker issue was resolved , and hopefully it's full steam ahead for you now - bring on that gorgeous kitchen!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Our House 389Sep 14, 2008 2:05 pm MrsB, your facade looks brilliant! I also love your granite and the henna red spashback will look devine..
I really like your idea for the kids wardrobes, I can't wait to see how it looks... Re: Our House 390Sep 14, 2008 5:48 pm haywgl Gorgeous!! I love the granite and the splashback will look amazing!! Great choices! Please do tell us about your cabinet maker troubles - we are all ears Ok, I'II tell To cut a long version short...we just got the quote for all the cabinets last week and it was thousands over what the builder had allowed. There are two issues with this that does not impress me at all First...got the quote last week...so when exactly were the kitchens going to be made? Second...I met with the cabinet guy back in March.I hadnt even picked the colours. Kitchen should have been in this week and we didnt even have a cabinet maker. I could go on and on about it but it would serve no purpose at all. So...meeting with the 2nd cabinet went well but still waiting for how much more we have to pay for extras. So there you go...a very watered down version but you get the drift. Mrs B Re: Our House 392Sep 14, 2008 6:36 pm Paula Mrs B, I'm sure some of these trades take one look at your house and mark up their prices. He probably just took it as a job that was signed dealed and delivered Paula...you may be right Well its not a done deal now...I really liked the guy but business is business. What I cant understand why the quote was so late...I could of change things etc but as it is, its too late. Mrs B Re: Our House 394Sep 14, 2008 10:06 pm Mrs B,
Very nice kitchen colours! I really like your stone benchtop and the colours of your kids' wardrobes! I'm sure your house will look stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Our House 397Sep 16, 2008 6:54 pm Update...
Just got our second quote for all the cabinet upgrades (don’t forget the cabinets should have been already installed)... cost, not for the faint hearted but I told Mr B he can cut back anything he likes but not the Kitchen So, I kept everything I wanted for the kitchen, all the beautiful Blum hardware for every draw and the stainless steel feature strips between the granite and cabinets. Stairs still not in can you tell I am very angry about this but still have a thread of hope that we will have a house to move into. Would I build again? Yes, it still is exciting even though it is excruciatingly slow. Anyway, enough whinging, I do too much of it at home Mrs B Re: Our House 398Sep 16, 2008 7:21 pm Mrs B,
That's what we did too... almost everything in the kitchen got upgraded.. esp. the benchtops. Why do women love kitchen? You can do the upgrades to the other cabinets later, right? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Our House 400Sep 17, 2008 6:15 pm I agree with changing your youngest sons wardrobe door colour Mrs B…..good idea for the future! Clever planning.
Hang in there….shame your builder couldn’t tell by what selections you have chosen that he needed to allow more for the kitchen. As far as building again goes…look at what you have learnt, all valuable experience. One day when you DO become a qualified decorator/designer you have this build behind you for knowledge. Once you are qualified and working you will be able to run your own build as project manager, and you will rule it with an iron fist…..as we do! So think of the positives while the negatives are getting you down.
