Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 15, 2011 6:44 pm We are almost at hand over stage. I have already got a list of about 30 things that I know will need correcting after hand over. We have built with plunkett homes and even though I know that everything will be right when we finally get the keys I cannot believe how many mistakes the tradies can make and just ignore. I have got 2 sides of A4 paper full of jobs that will need doing before we accept the keys. During the build mistakes have been made contiually along the way from start to finish. The kitchen wall cupboards are at the moment down for the 2nd time, this time for the kitchen ceiling to come down and be replaced due to it not being level. Painters just paint over doors that have obvious cracks in and will be replaced. It makes no sence to me. I will hand over the list at hand over and hope that every thing will be corrected to the standard which I expect. IS THERE A TIME LIMIT FROM HAND OVER TO WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE THE HOUSE READY TO HAND YOU THE KEYS? I do hope so, because at the rate they work, which has averaged a 1 - 2 day week the maintenance jobs will take months. I wondered if we are the only ones or is this typical and I need not worry. Cheers, PLease put my mind at rest. Re: Hand over - how many things needed correcting. 3Jun 16, 2011 8:19 am Hi Toby, We too are with Plunkett Homes and signed off last week on the last PCI, but are still waiting to collect the keys. First you need to get the final invoice then arrange payment, once that it received by the builder you'll have handover and receive the keys. Where are you building and which of their homes did you choose? We are building on 13 acres in karnup. I am pleased with how everything looks once it has been done right but it has been realy stressful from start to finish to ensure that everything is done to the right standard. We had pre start april 2010 and it has been a very long drawn out process. It is sad that I cannot recommend them because I am sure that everyone who builds with them cannot have had such a rough ride. The only thing that has made everything bearable is the change over of supervisor 12 weeks ago. Our new one is great. I am sure if we had had him from the off things would have gone much smoother. The first supervisor was totally un approachable and would not listen to us when we told him things were not as the plan. Consequently after he left, things have been picked up and are hopefully now being put right. Good luck with your move. I am pleased to hear that others have had a more pleasant experience. Cheers, toby. Re: Hand over - how many things needed correcting. 5Jun 17, 2011 7:25 am Hi Toby, We signed up for the new house last February (2010) so I can understand your frustration. The build itself has been great - but the first 8 months or so with our original Customer Service person was not so good. Since the new CS person has taken over it's been much better. As builders go I find Plunkett's to be one of the best. I hope that your handover is soon and that all goes well for you from now on. Regards, Supergran If there have been changes, variations, during construction then the drawings should be revised, the building permit amended and the current, as built drawings given to… 2 4480 Hi team, Im looking for a second hand sd4b monitor preferably white. 0 8923 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built.
