Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 15, 2008 1:23 pm hello kevin is back from holidays if anyone needs him..
Today we met for the first time to inspect the frame of the house he has pick up on a few minor issues but thank goodness nothing major.. he says in his opinion everything is going well so far. So guys it pays to get him out to inspect your house . In my opinion dont just rely on the builders own inspectors . One thing he did pick up was some of the roof tiles (which i didnt even notice) havent been glazed properly .So he said they will either have to be replaced or Boral will have to respray them. Our brickies are hard at work bricking the house.. they said they will do a good job for me. .The bricking is looking very nice and i am rapt. You must be very excited with your building status now! Hope to see more photos soon! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: claths new home 12Jan 29, 2008 10:13 pm So far all the bricking has been completed and plastering was started last week. We got a surprize when we went down on the weekend and all the plaster was up... didnt take long. Although i really wasnt happy with the workmanship... i dont know im not a plasterer but there was lots of gaps , some of it was torn and broken around the edging .. of cause cornices and framework will cover it but still they could have taken more care. In the Alfresco area part of the plaster roof was coming away .. wasnt nailed properly.
My neighbour got such a fright , she heard loud banging coming from my house ..she went out and had a look and saw plaster flying out the front window of the house.. I was wondering why they took my window out to get the plaster out Again i forgot to adjust the yr on the camera date [img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ [/img] Re: claths new home 13Jan 30, 2008 10:04 pm Hi Clath,
It's looking good! I like your bricks too! When is your handover date? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: claths new home 14Feb 04, 2008 11:08 pm VJ we have been given mid April as handover .Apparently we are 1 week ahead of schedule.
We are going to arrange our own flooring so proberly wont move in till late April. Had the plumbers there sat installing the down pipes and they have started putting the cornices up. Re: claths new home 15Feb 05, 2008 6:53 am Hey Clath, picking up some serious momentum now. You must be so excited watching the whole house come to life. BTW - Which brick did you choose? It looks like Boral 'Jarrah'? And what colour are the windows? Cheers, Tim -------------------------------------------------------- Built 'Cremorne 41' with PD - Handover took place in Nov '08 http://homeforourcherubs.blogspot.com/ Re: claths new home 16Feb 05, 2008 8:11 am clath VJ we have been given mid April as handover .Apparently we are 1 week ahead of schedule. Wow, they are working super fast on your house! Looks awesome! When did you start building, again? My next door neighbour is building the exact same house. They started end of November and are pretty much done with plastering now. Taking into consideration the xmas break they are moving very fast! I was home the day they guys started plastering and oh my, they were so noisy! By the sounds and the volume of noise they were making you wouldn't think that they were just putting up the plaster. Sounded more like they were knocking the house down. LOL [sneakersss] Re: claths new home 17Feb 05, 2008 9:40 pm Hi Yissim our house started november 20th 07. Sounds like your neighbours house is up to the same stage as us.
In a previous post i mentioned about my neighbour telling me about the noise my plasterers were making.. wonder wether ur neighbours had our plasterers when you say exact same house? lol do you mean brickwork also? your not my neighbour Re: claths new home 18Feb 06, 2008 7:30 am clath In a previous post i mentioned about my neighbour telling me about the noise my plasterers were making.. wonder wether ur neighbours had our plasterers when you say exact same house? lol do you mean brickwork also? your not my neighbour Don't worry - I thought you were my neighbours at one point, too. 'Cos it's the exact same house and orientation with the same front door! Hehe But they have their render on already. And by same house I mean same model. Their bricks are not the same, though. It's a much lighter version of yours. And they don't have a slab out in their alfresco area. But you guys are pretty much on the same page in terms of what's happening to the house. They very well might have been the same plasterers. But we're on the other side of town. So, mid April for handover. That's like 2 months. You counting down yet? Hehe [sneakersss] Re: claths new home 19Feb 06, 2008 9:10 pm Lol Yissim would have been a spin out if it had turned out we had been neighbours....
Nah i wasnt worrid it was in your post everything seemed the same except the bricks... thats what got me thinking . Funny .. wonder why they didnt get a Alfresco slab and i did..? if you see them ask them if they ask for the slab. Yes cant believe in two months we will be in the house.. only thort yesterday 2months to go... cant wait to get out of this rented house Re: claths new home 20Feb 06, 2008 9:17 pm clath Nah i wasnt worrid it was in your post everything seemed the same except the bricks... thats what got me thinking . Funny .. wonder why they didnt get a Alfresco slab and i did..? if you see them ask them if they ask for the slab. We didn't get the alfresco slab either as we had always planned to do the decking. But the neighbours on the other side got the alfresco slab and they are also building with PD. Actually, the whole alfresco slab idea never came up at all during our pre-construction stages so we might have thought about it if we knew about it. But, I'll ask them when I see them next time. Would you feel funny if you knew someone had the same model house and same bricks as you?
