Insurance is affected by a multitude of factors: have you had insurance previously / have you claimed in the last five yrs / have you any criminal convictions / is your hone vacant for longer then 60 days / do you have an alarm system / keyed locks on all windows / deadlocks on all doors / do you have employment discounts or rewards for combined insurances? All these things and more will affect your premium. I can say this - I am with Westpac as I am a staff member. Love them - touch wood I have not had to claim but two family members have and they were both given outstanding service. Claims settled efficiently and promptly. This may be a case of spending some time comparing / googling / phoning a multitude of places and getting quotes. Also as the floods in QLD have recently shown read every piece of fine print.
