Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 08, 2011 9:44 am Not sure where this topic should go... What is the best way to remove paint overspray from glass? There are the finest white dots on our shower door - this wasn't even installed when our house was painted so not sure how they got there! Is turps the way to go or could it affect the frame and seal? Kylie Re: Best way to get paint from glass? 2Jun 08, 2011 9:47 am I think a small scraper would be good, our Builder SS said the ones with batteries in are the best. The blades are about $30.00 each. Our painters, painted over all of our glass panes in the front door they will be removing it, and soon I hope. Re: Best way to get paint from glass? 4Jun 08, 2011 11:57 am You can buy paint scrapers from bunnings, it's just a angled blade. It's really easy & they are dirt cheap. We painted our "colonial" style timber windows in our 1st house & got paint everywhere but the scraper took it right off with no dramas. Go to your local Bunnings or Mitre10 store and they should have a special paint-removal product in little bottles for around $10-15. There are a few brands on the market. I can't remember the one we used, but I definitely remember it was made in the USA. Worked well on both oil-based and acrylic paints. You just apply it with a small brush, wait few minutes and it will scrape easily afterwards. Another application may be required sometimes.
