I will definitely look into a way through the HIA to get all of the building services 'put in one basket' to avoid the Owner/Builder category. We always planned to have all of the work (minus the little things that you do yourself post-project) done by licensed professionals. I should have specified that we are building in W.A. 4 hours south of Perth. We have sourced prices from local, reputable people who have been recommended through family industry contacts. We will hand over project management to another party and avoid some of the pitfalls with both the banks and contractors. I am quite aware that there will be plenty of headaches for us anyway but as it was said, an exciting adventure.
