Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 03, 2011 11:38 am Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone knows anything about getting dual certification for engineering plans? We have an adjoining owner who is deadset against us building our garage wall 150mm from our boundary and since they can't do anything to stop us re: wall height, they are now wanting to create a hassle with protection works etc. They believe that what we want to do will damage their property and I think if we provide the information they are looking for they will pay someone to probably tell them it will be unsafe etc and they will appeal to the building appeals board. Yesterday I spoke to our surveyor and builder and they recommended doing a dual certification as a way around the neighbours but nobody could really give me any further information on what it involves other than having two engineers sign off on the plans to say they're ok. Has anyone ever done this? I can't find information online and even when I spoke to the Building Commission they weren't very clear. What I want to be sure of is that our neighbour can't appeal against us if we go down that path and hold up our build even more. thanks in advance For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ.
