That includes doing endless amounts of research on selections, a lot of communications with various PD staff (which is very important, especially being very clear in how / what you communicate), and a lot of follow up! And that was probably the most difficult part of the build - the amount of follow up we had to do. It does get quite frustrating when you sent an email or left a voicemail and there was no response or acknowledgement... and this could happen 3 or 4 times on a single matter. Some of the other lowlights were the fact that we had to wait so long for land title... we started our building journey in January 2011 when we first sat down with our SC, and didn't start the build till the very last week of November... coming into June we just want it finished and for us to be moved in. We've been a bit unsettled for the whole time, as there was no point setting up 'home' after we sold the place we were in back in Feb 2011, knowing that we were building such a lovely new place. We have 2 rooms and a garage full of boxes of new things for the house, and a few different suppliers with furniture waiting for delivery! Having to move house a few months ago sucked a bit as well... Little things related to the build such as ending up on a Cat 9 brick because any of the ones we wanted were no longer being made and being told that the price of the roof tiles is unrelated to its category were a bit average too. However...! The house that we are about to take possession of is of fantastic quality, has come together exactly how we planned it, has generally been free of problems (no break-ins, theft, fundamental problems), and has been awesome to watch get constructed! All the upgrades have definitely been worth it, and there is really nothing we would do differently (aside from maybe moving the garage access door to the Laundry and moving the Broom / Linen cupboard to the opposite wall). Although our BC had her frustrating moments, she managed to accommodate a significant number of changes for us post contract, that we were greatly appreciative of (even increasing the ceiling height from 2590mm to 2740mm 6 months after contract and a month before site start!). Our SS has been fantastic, and takes great pride in his work, and wants to make sure we're happy. I think we'd build again, but only if we were going to live in it. Building for investment would be boring... would we use PD again? We'd probably give them the first right of refusal, and reading current thoughts on this forum, there seems to be a drop off in the sales process which would have lost it for us. Transparency on pricing is something you'll have to really improve on. Many people may well be able afford an upgrade, but do not include it because they assume they can't. We'll post plenty of pics as we do the floors, blinds, wardrobes, home theatre, decorating and yard... they're all booked in over the next month! Hi Rups, Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate your honesty and comments and am pleased you shared them with us. It helps to get an insight on the journey from our customers point view. Yes, I have seen the latest comments on the main thread and have forward them onto the PD office. It’s really important to our business that all types of feedback is passed on so we can revaluate our processes to make sure all of our clients are happy. I look forward to seeing your updates and pictures over the next month! Cheers, Ebony Porter Davis Homes Questions?
