Re: sliders or hinged doors on bed room robes 5Jun 02, 2011 7:49 am Hinged doors for all of the above reasons. I have always had hinged doors except for when we were building and moved into our 'temp' home. It had sliders and I personally couldn't stand them! You can't see the whole inside cupboard at once, and often I'd have to swap between one side and the other (particually with the linen cupboard) and it was terribly annoying with armfuls of sheets and towels! I also couldn't put my kids clothes away while they were sleeping with fear of waking them up with the thunderous noise sliding them across! I also prefer continuity throughout the home, and have all my timber wardrobe doors match all the internal (panel) doors. They are all painted the same colour too, which is easy enough to do again if you want to change colour. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! And makes much better use of space in the room - in reality space is an issue and furniture etc can be arranged much easier with sliding doors. Re: sliders or hinged doors on bed room robes 9Jun 02, 2011 8:46 am so you would rather open one slider to get your jeans out then slide that across to shut it,move to the left or right and open the other one to get a jumper out and slide that back across to shut it ? and that is fine but I would rather open both doors at once grab said jeans and said jumper, shut them and be on my way........ Re: sliders or hinged doors on bed room robes 11Jun 02, 2011 11:24 am I bet today you will think about it (only cos I am watching you !!) I did when I went to get a towel today, I smiled and thought 'what if they were sliders'............................ha ha Re: sliders or hinged doors on bed room robes 12Jun 02, 2011 12:41 pm Hinged here as well. Lived with sliders.... no thanks, would rather not have a wardrobe at all. All of the reasons everyone has already mentioned. Another is luggage and big items, that you put on the top shelf. In the old house with sliding doors on the linen, a lot of loud swearing was heard by the neighbours every time I tried to put the big packpacks away and had to manoeuvre because the opening wasn't big enough. With hinged doors... open both, pop it up on the shelf.... no loud swearing! Another thing to consider if you do go hinged is door furniture. Our builder offered little knobs I didn't like, so we deleted them and instead have dummy sets the same as the internal doors of the house. Just the next step of that continuity Stormy was referring to I guess. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
