Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 01, 2011 5:06 pm Can anyone tell me their experiences with defects during the build stage, and what is reasonable to complain about before things are too hard to fix. 2 examples are: Meter box installed and dinted, also chipped ... will be bricked in soon and don't know if its reasonable to ask SS to replace before its a permanent fixture ... dints are only mild but as far as I am concerned it should be in as new condition. Sprayed with wet concrete also and chipped in a good few spots. Am I being OTT? I don't really want dents bent back into shape and then powdercoat touched up with a brush!! Next is window frames on site today, a few decent scratches/gouges ... now these will be bricked in too I guess so I assume posdercoated steel is very hard to repair, buff back and repaint in small spots? At a bit of a loss as to where I stand. HELP!!! I can only assume more defects will follow and a fairly normal thing to happen??? Or should I have higher standards when paying a fortune for a brand new home? - BJ - ' Less is more and none is perfect ' My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41828 Re: Picking up on defects during the build ... 2Jun 01, 2011 5:20 pm I dont think you are being OTT at all! I would email your CSC and copy your SS into the email regarding these concerns. They will need to be fixed eventually, and if they are not fixed by the end of the build, you can go to the project manager and say that the issues were not addressed from the beginning when the first email was sent. This way you have a record of it. If you record everything through email, they get sorted out - just when is anyones guess. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. I'll send everything to our local office though after I talk to him. - BJ - ' Less is more and none is perfect ' My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41828 Re: Picking up on defects during the build ... 4Jun 01, 2011 8:12 pm Given our current meter box was dented during construction so doesn't shut properly and blows and bangs in the wind I'd definitely raise it with them, its SO annoying!! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
