Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 01, 2011 1:51 pm Hi there! I'm waiting for prestart... Can anyone out there advise me on their upgrade cost for the following items? And what I can look out for or do later to save cost? I've been told I can either supply my own sink/basin OR tapware.. but not both. Trying to work out which is easier / more cost effective. 1.Room Doors to Corinthian Milan (RRP $100) 2.Upgrade door levers Gainsborough contractor series (RRP at bunnings $49) 3.Upgrade Main door lock to Trilock with pull handles 4.Extra Electric points 5.Bigger conduits to accommodate network cables to rooms 6.Extra lighting points 7.Upgrade of sinks and basins 8.Upgrade of tapware to Aqua mixers including shower 9.Upgrade to handheld shower and rails 10. Upgrade of toilet ensuite to Caroma Profile 4 Close coupled 11. Upgrade of towel and toilet roll holder to Caroma Cosmo design (Cheap in bunnings) 12. Upgrade tiles to 300x300 for toilets and kitchen. Tile prices are about $55/sqm instead of allowance $44/sqm 13. Additional cold water taps in backyard and laundry 14. Upgrade to Alfresco stacker doors 3.6m Can some of these items be fixed as an after hand over or worth the effort? Thanks for the advice.. if its sensitive, kindly PM me! Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 2Jun 01, 2011 3:04 pm Hi - we didn't built with redink - but some of my upgrade cost might be similar? I'll answer as many as I can. 1.Room Doors to Corinthian Milan (RRP $100) 2.Upgrade door levers Gainsborough contractor series (RRP at bunnings $49) - if the upgrade is more than $49 you could look at getting the standard ones fitted and then changing them after handover, I have replaced a doorhandle before and didn't find it too challenging. 3.Upgrade Main door lock to Trilock with pull handles 4.Extra Electric points I think mine were $120 each, I wish I had my quote. 5.Bigger conduits to accommodate network cables to rooms - 6.Extra lighting points - depending on the light, downlights were $200 each, lighting point to be installed (no light) was $100 for external. 7.Upgrade of sinks and basins 8.Upgrade of tapware to Aqua mixers including shower 9.Upgrade to handheld shower and rails 10. Upgrade of toilet ensuite to Caroma Profile 4 Close coupled 11. Upgrade of towel and toilet roll holder to Caroma Cosmo design (Cheap in bunnings) 12. Upgrade tiles to 300x300 for toilets and kitchen. Tile prices are about $55/sqm instead of allowance $44/sqm - if you stick with a ceramic tile - you will just pay the extra $11/sqm. If you change to porcelain/rectified/mosiac. you will pay for the entire cost of the tiles (like me! We chose BEAUTIFUL massive porcelain tiles for all our wet areas which cost $7k.) Worth in my opinion as I LOVE them 13. Additional cold water taps in backyard and laundry 14. Upgrade to Alfresco stacker doors 3.6m Still not sure if I have helped you or not! Upgraded just about all of the items you are asking about, so I'll get my paperwork out and send you a pm with the costs. We decided to go through redink for all our upgrades (besides glass splashback) because it has saved us time, and in a few instances it has been cheaper going through them. But it's a personal decision based on finances and the time you have to spare to go shopping for the item plus installing it. We have had a good experience with redink so far. Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 8Dec 09, 2011 12:17 am Hi, Can you tell me how much the upgrade to the Aqua mixers cost? Am wanting to do this, but would like to have a rough estimate of cost in my head before committing to the idea... Thanks! -Ally Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 9Dec 09, 2011 1:45 pm Hi Geste. We just did our PreStart with RedInk, and a lot of your upgrades were on our list also.. Here are the prices we were given. Geste Hi there! I'm waiting for prestart... Can anyone out there advise me on their upgrade cost for the following items? And what I can look out for or do later to save cost? I've been told I can either supply my own sink/basin OR tapware.. but not both. Trying to work out which is easier / more cost effective. We've decided to supply our own tapware. You can get all of the tap upgrades for a ridiclously lesser amount though places like Ebay etc. You just need to make sure they are WELS approved otherwise RedInk wont instal them. 1.Room Doors to Corinthian Milan (RRP $100) We upgraded to Corinthian 'Rockport' and it was $65/door. 2.Upgrade door levers Gainsborough contractor series (RRP at bunnings $49) 3.Upgrade Main door lock to Trilock with pull handles We did the exact upgrade at $464. 4.Extra Electric points Upgrade a single GPO to double = $10 Add single GPO = $55 Add Double GPO = $65 TV Point = $100 Conduit to light switch/powerpoint = $15 Conduit with blank face plate = $40 Telephone point = $90 Additional ceiling point / wall point = $65 Additional weatherproof wall light point = $80 5.Bigger conduits to accommodate network cables to rooms (As above) 6.Extra lighting points 7.Upgrade of sinks and basins We upgraded our basins to the Leda Vasque Above Counter Basins @ $365 each. Upgraded our sink to Clark Epure Orion Double Bowl Undermount Sink @ $436. 8.Upgrade of tapware to Aqua mixers including shower Basin mixers were $290 each and shower mixers were $298 (Saracom) 9.Upgrade to handheld shower and rails We went for the 'Track' hand held plus Overhead Rain Water @ $708 each shower (We have 3) 10. Upgrade of toilet ensuite to Caroma Profile 4 Close coupled Toilet = $492 each 11. Upgrade of towel and toilet roll holder to Caroma Cosmo design (Cheap in bunnings) Did the exact upgrade at $27 for toilet roll holder & $72 for double towel rail. 12. Upgrade tiles to 300x300 for toilets and kitchen. Tile prices are about $55/sqm instead of allowance $44/sqm We upgraded all our tiles, went for floor to ceiling, laid vertically with extra listello tiles as feature and all up cost us $5,000 for both bathrooms, laundry and toilets. Our floor tiles were $50/m2. 13. Additional cold water taps in backyard and laundry Backyard water tap = $210, Extra outdoor Gas Point = $310 14. Upgrade to Alfresco stacker doors 3.6m We costed a 4410mm wide stacker door @ $4,397! Can some of these items be fixed as an after hand over or worth the effort? Thanks for the advice.. if its sensitive, kindly PM me! Hope this helps! Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 10Dec 09, 2011 1:59 pm Just one point conduits. Check the difference between standard and the bigger sizes. I believe first timer's quoted conduit point is for a standard conduit - the bigger ones ar more likely to be slightly more expensive. I know I put a standard conduit in and the arial and foxtel connections barely just fitted thru it together. If I had know you could get different sizes I probably would have put the bigger one in, for which I didn't get a price. My pricing is almost 3 yrs old so I wont send it to you as it's more then likely not current. Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 11Dec 09, 2011 2:32 pm Yep, that was a standard... I didnt even know there were different sizes?? Thankfully we have a friend who will be coming in post handover.. Re: Building with Redink_Upgrade cost? 12Dec 09, 2011 4:12 pm Neither did I..I told her what I wanted the conduits for (network / foxtel etc) and assumed it will be the right size! I'd better check! First _timer_Perth : The prices for the standard stuff looks about the same as us. I've opted for some things to be fitted later though because its cheaper and not too inconvenient to do so... 1. Glass kitchen splashback 2. extra kitchen carpentry (over head cupboards) 3. lighting (overhead) 4. Moved all the wall points from an external to an internal wall (coz it's easier for an electrician to just fix extra points on a double brick wall later at a lower price) You can also opt to supply either your tapware OR your china if you think it is cheaper that way.. I've kept to the basic mixers / sinks.. so didn't bother to go through the trouble of getting my own.
