Re: Our house on the hill - SA 72Sep 22, 2012 8:32 pm Hi, I noticed you have ordered your appliances and found you from a previous posting back in 2008. Wondering what oven you are getting this time around? We are also building and hope to be in by Christmas. Love your views. Re: Our house on the hill - SA 73Sep 23, 2012 2:53 pm Hi Pipbolt We decided on a Falcon oven this time......it,s the Kitchener 90 cm dual fuel cooker in black. They have a very good reputation and are made in England. We chose this style because it suits our farmhouse style kitchen. It,s got 2 seperate ovens and a separate grill and both the ovens are fan forced and it has a 5 burner gas cooktop with triple ring wok burner. The Glem oven that we had in our previous house was fantastic and I couldn,t fault it, but this time we wanted a cooker that had 2 ovens,so that if I just want to bake a cake for instance, then I wouldn,t have to heat up a big oven just to cook that Good luck with your build and fingers crossed that we,re both in by Christmas The builder has just told us that our kitchen goes in in 5 weeks time, so that sounds promising Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our house on the hill - SA 74Sep 23, 2012 3:37 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The brickies should be finished in the next couple of days They have just got part of a wall at the back to do and the window sills and also fireplace to brick up. We had our combustion fire installed on Monday. We are very impressed by our builder, last week he had one of his guys go through the house and check that all of the stud work and frame was straight and all in order ready for the gyprock The last pic is on the western side of the house and is the kitchen and dining area. That,s where our pool is going.....they are putting that in at the end of next month We have to meet the electrician at the house on Wednesday to go through the electrical plan with him. We have finally decided on all of our light fittings, ceiling fans etc I have lost count how many lighting shops we,ve been to in the last few months We bought our ceiling fans on line and saved $75 per fan! and the service was fantastic! We ordered them on the Wednesday and they were delivered to the door on the Friday! Melbourne to Adelaide (and we are 40 kms from the city!) Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our house on the hill - SA 75Sep 23, 2012 4:45 pm Hi Mel, Interested to know what web site you bought your fans from? We are planing on going down to Perth in the next two weeks and are looking at lights and fans. Do you know what brand the fans are too? We are thinking of buying all the led downlights online as the price of them here (Geraldton) is about $110 each. Ouch. The Falcon ovens look great, we were checking them out yesterday. Have heard a lot of good about the Glem but have yet to see one here. Cheers Pippa Re: Our house on the hill - SA 76Sep 24, 2012 11:08 am Hi Pippa We bought the fans from Lumera Living. We decided on the Typhoon Antique Brass with walnut blades, we originally wanted the Hunter fans but couldn,t quite bring ourselves to pay around $415 per fan (we need 8 of them) I just had a look and they sell lights as well......their downlights range from about $20 to $35....I think the brand was Kepler. Have you started a thread yet? I,d love to see some pics of your progress so far..... Where are you building?
