I find it too short a time to decide haha I took longer and they didn't seem to mind. I kept asking to change things and requote etc. Building a Modified Madison 37. Ok thanks. I need way more time than 5 days. Cheers, K. I am still undecided on stairs. Wife is persistent on timber staircase all the way without carpet. So I think I will be looking at $11000 at least. Just seems a lot of money! Our stairs is towards the front of the house ie next to living area so once you go into the house through front door you can see it Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14567May 09, 2016 8:36 am k3nnis Ok thanks. We did go with durian timber stairs rather than oak. Maybe that's a possibility? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14568May 09, 2016 8:59 am MinandB k3nnis Ok thanks. Anything you get done through the builder will almost certainly be more expensive. They will put a markup on it. Our sales person at Clarendon recommended we do it after handover for just that reason. Same as doing feature wall colours etc. They charge a stupid amount per wall for a feature colour. Get it done after handover for a fraction of the cost. Get some quotes done with a concreter and that will give you an idea. They should be able to quote off plans given dimensions. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14574May 09, 2016 11:15 am k3nnis Ok thanks. It's just the headache of doing post handover got many other things to worry about so no one here did driveway via Clarendon? There are people that do. We have done flooring entirely with Clarendon for the same reason. Less hassle. I'm sure if we did this after handover it would of been a bit cheaper. It also comes down to how you are funding it etc. We went to the bank with the land + house + driveway quote. We still need to fork out for landscaping and fences, but that is perfectly doable for us. Also understand the after handover stuff etc. We got a week between us moving and getting the keys and its going to be really hectic. We got it planned out pretty well so hopefully it goes according to plan and we have fence, driveway etc in before we move. How about the good neighbor fence, are you going to ask your neighbor to fork half of the cost that divides both your property? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14577May 09, 2016 4:19 pm rogy How about the good neighbor fence, are you going to ask your neighbor to fork half of the cost that divides both your property? I'll just be getting a timber fence and will be contacting our neighbour to get them to contribute 50%. One of my neighbours is already built and I paid him 50% for his boundary already. I'm not very fussed on the good neighbour colourbond fences. I do have them on two sides in my current house, however, they are very noisy when objects hit the fence and it sets my dogs off. A lot of touch ups required. Shower screens and glass went in on stairs today!
