Porcelain or ceramic? no idea! sorry... this is going back a year... building a house is like having baby brain all over again! Who's building with Clarendon?? 14524May 06, 2016 6:45 pm k3nnis Thanks for your reply. Does laminate have a tiny bit of real timber on top?? My wife keeps telling me laminate is no good compared to real timber. Laminate and vinyl planks are wood prints to give the effect of wood. Both real wood and the engineered types have their pros and cons. I wouldn't really say one is better than the other per se but one would definitely suit your purposes more than the other... We laid the laminate in our last house. Beautiful flooring from Harvey Norman and we got a lot of compliments. We had originally gone to HN to get bamboo or timber but were sold on the laminate when the sales guy scratched his key down the plank and not a mark was left. Timber scratches and dents easy especially with young kids! This time though we have chosen vinyl planks because we did get swelling on our laminate and it drove me bonkers. Vinyl is water proof. Once the kids are older we will replace it with timber probably. Unless of course we end up completely loving it Good luck! I found flooring, tiles and kitchen the absolute hardest decisions to make. We had colour selections last July and I'm still not sure about our choices! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82062 Madison 37 - site start 16.2.16 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14525May 06, 2016 7:50 pm k3nnis Thanks for your reply. Does laminate have a tiny bit of real timber on top?? My wife keeps telling me laminate is no good compared to real timber. Personally, I think it's better than solid timber floors. Much more durable in every way, quieter and cheaper. They also do not require any maintenance. They are very popular for homes because of these reasons. Solid timber floors on the other hand, while they give much more of a "real" timber look and feel, they aren't anywhere near as durable. They are prone to fading, expanding too much, scratching. They require a bit of maintenance to keep them looking great. In saying that, the laminate floors I have are not as durable as I would have hoped (probably due to the brand) but I love them and would never touch solid timber floors. Just go with that will suit your lifestyle and preference. $395 Fixed Priced Landscape Plans for DA M: 0435 127 244 | W: bluegumdesign.com.au | E: info@bluegumdesign.com.au Residential | Commercial | Industrial Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 14527May 06, 2016 7:56 pm Thx for the info. Issue is I can't persuade the wife. It's either timber or tiles I'm hoping tiles 60x60cm will be around $5000 to upgrade on sapphire package. Porcelain will be a bonus. Does ceramic tiles feel different to porcelain? When I looked this morning, underlay was down in the theatre and bed 5 but since it was locked up can only assume it was the same upstairs. Parents went past today however at lunch and there were people in there installing carpet so yeay for people working on a Saturday. Laminate went down upstairs on Thursday so can only assume all that is left now is shower screens, glass balustrade, paint touch ups and WIL/builtin's fit out. We're going for a walkthrough on Monday as the SS will be there putting his little dots up etc for touchups so we'll be doing a thorough look over it. Following Monday we should have our independent inspector through the house and it should be much cleaner too. Everything is pretty much booked for moving in on 26/5 and everything else that happens around that. The only thing I have yet to book in is to get the extra electricals done which I want to get done before we move in. the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6688 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
