Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18141Dec 04, 2017 6:23 pm I am very amused with Clarendon - I got a house and land package with them. My land has not settled (we were just informed that the land was registered with LPI late last week) and I do not even know what the address of my registered land is, but guess what, I got an email from Clarendon today presenting me with the home compensation insurance certificate and asking me to pay 5%. I wonder if Clarendon is too quick or is the vendor's solicitor too slow? My build blog here Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18142Dec 05, 2017 1:48 pm JK27 We've been booked in for Practical Completion walk-through on the the 11th December, with the intention of handing the house over on the 19th. Not holding my breath, because there are ALOT of little things that still need to be done, and we haven't seen enough people on-site to physically get through it all. SS could surprise us and pull it off, which would be awesome. Question - how has everyone felt with the attention to detail at PC stage?? We have paint on every single window, paint splatter on every single kitchen cupboard door, paint on the edging of carpet in home theatre, paint on hinges and door hardware. Our Brickwork has holes through most of the mortar, aside from alot of the mortar beds being bigger than code 10mm, the brickwork in the corner of our Alfresco and Front Door is that dogey zig-zag.....lots of other little things, but we think we can cope with them. How far would you push them to fix it?? If you stand back, everything looks beautiful and shiny and awesome, its when you get in close and realise that most trades really don't give a sh!t and just slap it all together. Looks like we are in the same boat JK27! Our PCI and handover is just couple of days after yours. Even though we are desperate to move in before Christmas, I'm gonna push the SS to do the clean up jobs (paint, brick) etc before the handover. I think he has given me enough attitude and headache till now, so not it's my time to get it right. I hope you get your issues resolved as well.. I'll post more updated as soon as my PCI walkthrough is done. Fingers crossed! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18144Dec 05, 2017 1:53 pm k3nnis Good luck all for your PCI's! Are you all still gonna build in the near future after handover? Thanks k3nnis ! Your house looks just beyond brilliant! And your landscaping too. If it's not too bothersome, would you mind sending me a PM with your landscaper's details? Thanks! Our invoices have always been issued a couple days to a week from when the work has finished, so this sounds about right - in saying that,I'm sure Clarendon won't let a dollar go astray, so they are definitely onto it when asking for $$$ Congrats on your land being registered. Extra - comes with the Whirly-Bird from memory It is an extra. If you install 1 whirlbird, you will have 4, if you have 2, then u will get i vents. Each whirl bird cost about 600-800, and its the small-cost differences if you do after handover. The only thing you need to consider is external bugs coming throught the vents and die in the roofspace. This is why I dont install Whirlbird. I'm building at Schofields, NSW. Lot of your work seems incomplete I really hope they finish it before Monday. Did you receive your interim-occupation-cert already? In my case, most of the work is completed, except for window furnishings, security doors and A/C .. but there are multiple issues with painting, bricks, electrical switchboards etc (noticed them when I sneaked in one day). So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to haggle with my SS on my PCI day. Will keep you all updated! Doesnt make any differences. But data points can make a difference fepend on location as its more into inside structure as you can alter it without making a visible hole. Living area is a place that you need data point, kitchem and door you dont need. But, worst case, you can use wifi now. My cureent home can stream movie nicely with wifi, so not the end of the world.
