Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2661Oct 21, 2014 6:32 pm Yep. We changed the bathroom around and extended the width of the house on the left hand side to accommodate a bigger bathroom and living area space (and bigger WIR space). Cost us about $5,000, and I was debating whether it was worth it months ago when deciding. But it was a no brainier in the end. Of course it was worth it, this is the home we'll be living in for the next 15-20 probably. Plus the changes definitely adds value to the house anyway, so that $5000 is nothing. $395 Fixed Priced Landscape Plans for DA M: 0435 127 244 | W: bluegumdesign.com.au | E: info@bluegumdesign.com.au Residential | Commercial | Industrial Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2662Oct 21, 2014 6:35 pm Damn! Cost us $4500 just for an extra WC for the Killara !! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2665Oct 21, 2014 7:43 pm Jayjay84 wow you really made Clarendon work for the $1000 admin fee. It was lucky your land wasn't registered, cause you would of hate building a house you weren't 100% happy with. http://buildingourhomekellyville.blogspot.com.au/?m=1 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2667Oct 21, 2014 8:21 pm Interested to hear if anyone chose any open shelves for their bathroom/powder/ensuite vanities- particularly the costs Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2668Oct 21, 2014 8:22 pm I wouldn't say angry but frustrated very slow, from last week until today we have had 2 bathrooms floor tiles done I didn't like tile direct from the colour selection stage, this is just icing on the cake. http://buildingourhomekellyville.blogspot.com.au/?m=1 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2669Oct 21, 2014 8:23 pm @wearemoving I have been reading your blog with much interest- so lucky to have the hubby do your electricals. Send him to QLD please! Haha. And cannot believe the brickwork at the start- you must have been pulling your hair out. Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2670Oct 21, 2014 8:26 pm @LauraKG It is written in my contract that the adjoining fence to the neighbours must be removed if the SS requests it to better access the site- however I am already paying a particular extra of '$2500 site fees due to the nature of the block' so I have questioned whether I would get my $2500 back- answer was...no! lol. I cannot see my neighbours doing this either. Hopefully we'll both get away with it. Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2671Oct 21, 2014 8:30 pm CocoBrisbane it's funny you say that he is actually really busy with subby work from a company based in Brisbane. It's been great having him do everything I need done for free and still keep an eye on the house. Brickwork was ridicules. To be fair best trade in Clarendon Sydney and best consultants in colour studio are the guys at Kitchen. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2672Oct 21, 2014 8:43 pm @Wearemoving You may be on to your second build by the time that I am in my home. I can't believe that they let your hubby on site though. My Dad does professional CCTV installations and wants to do my security but could not wing that even with a trade licence etc. But that is miles off yet- I still need to work out the variations and costings and can hopefully get the ball rolling this week with some definitive answers. Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2673Oct 21, 2014 8:48 pm The admin process is very slow at Clarendon, They will only allow the owner of the house work on the house. We only signed with Clarendon after we got written approval that he could work on the house. Our old SS said when we started the build that if it was upto him and we didn't have a signed go ahead he wouldn't let hubby do the work. I guess they think you might harm you own house. http://buildingourhomekellyville.blogspot.com.au/?m=1 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2674Oct 21, 2014 11:17 pm CocoBrisbane @LauraKG It is written in my contract that the adjoining fence to the neighbours must be removed if the SS requests it to better access the site- however I am already paying a particular extra of '$2500 site fees due to the nature of the block' so I have questioned whether I would get my $2500 back- answer was...no! lol. She basically said that as they were nearly ready for handover I'd have to wait until the client moved in to seek permission to remove a fence... I said no, I'm emailing you a request now! They've had to zero lot too, so I don't know why they aren't being helpful. I really don't want this to cause more delays! Also, what happens in a worst case scenario if they say I can't remove the fence??? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2675Oct 22, 2014 7:06 am @lauraKG if you are having such a hard time with the neighbours builder could you ask Clarendon to contact them in writing. I mean they may not want to assist you as an individual but won't be able to resist Clarendon as a company. http://buildingourhomekellyville.blogspot.com.au/?m=1 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 2676Oct 22, 2014 7:53 am Sydney-build Damn!
