We have moved in a month ago and had similar small issues as yous. .. Most of them we picked at PCI still hasn't been fixed but they are getting people to do things looks like trades are quite busy so it's taking time but they have send people to fix things which are urgent such as water problems. .. With the finishings we are quite happy. . Congrats and all the best with your new home. .. Thank you Mrs RS - Handover next Wednesday (although haven't seen too many tradies on-site yet ). I hope it's been an awesome month of enjoying your new home....that's what we're most looking forward too!! We're really happy with the finishes too! Just quietly, I stopped into a friends house last week and she has just recently built with Champion Homes, and although it was a really nice new house and anyone would be grateful for it, the finishes weren't anywhere near as nice - definitely not Stegbar windows, kitchen was average, bathrooms were basic (almost 80's in style), so I'm glad with what we've ended up with. We asked for an additional cold fresh/town water tap at the washing machine but we we're told Basix will not approve it and we can't have fresh water tap. Did anyone experience this and any way to get around this? We don't want to use rainwater for washing machine. They give you 2 fresh water taps, one at the front of the house and 1 at the back but not for washing machine! Not sure why! She added "fresh/town water tap" at the washing machine in the variation sheet at additional cost of $210 and we signed it. We got our building plans and additional tap was shown but as "cold water tap". We asked the Contract presenter to change it to "fresh water tap" as per the variation sheet we signed at the tender. Then she said you can't have it and we asked to get rid of the additional tap and got credited. That's just one of the many things tender presenter wasn't sure of. Almost every question we asked, she had to call someone up or she made up the answer. The Contract presenter said the house won't pass the certification for handover if there's a fresh water tap for the washing machine. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18194Dec 18, 2017 3:41 pm Same for us - I think it's part of their standard build process now to add both rainwater and 2 town-water (Sydney fresh water) taps in the Laundry. Noticed this during PCI last week. SS confirmed that this is a new thing that they do now. But it was never in the contract, and we were told that it can't be added either. Quite funny ! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18195Dec 18, 2017 4:34 pm Need to vent.... Our Handover has been moved again until Thursday morning!!! When we did our PCI, Stegbar was on-site installing Shower screens, so we couldn't go into the ensuite, nor could we check the main bathroom screens and the Powder Room Screen wasn't installed. We had a conversation with our SS about that, and he said that there would be trades there all week, to go through and have a look before our Private Inspection on Tuesday morning, we even had a giggle about how Private Inspectors don't like you to go through with them. Simultaneously, one of the fabrics we selected from EHI has been discontinued, and in a last minute effort to try and get the curtain made for handover, they sent samples out to me during the week and they asked I return them to their installer who was there on Saturday. Which we did, and whilst there - went through the bathrooms. We also noted that NOTHING else had been done, and the wet carpet and underlay smells like it's started to rot with the high temps we've had. Garage Flooring guy also turned up, and told us outright he would not have it done before handover as we still didn't have electricity. Along with a whole heaps of other things not done, we emailed our SS last night to advise, and basically asked if it's not going to happen on Wednesday - please let us know. You know because we've got nothing else to do but put our lives on hold based on their feedback - my husband has taken leave, I've had the inconvenience of swapping days at work and missing end of year work Christmas lunch to be available, paid for Vacation Care for my 3 children, paying for insurance, paying interest on a mortgage in preparation, paying private inspector for last appointment, got Air Con lines up for Friday. This morning I received an SMS and email saying he NEVER told us we could go through the house, and that I had now created issues for him and as a result, handover had been moved a day. To say that I've been physically sick today, would be an understatement. To be called a liar and then blamed for the delay, pisses me off to no end. Sorry, had to get it out before I explode KDRB Paddington 29 Bed 1 to Rear with Home Theatre & Grand Alfresco (Paddington 31) blog: Southern Sydney Knockdown & Rebuild Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 18196Dec 18, 2017 4:46 pm JK27 Need to vent.... Sorry, had to get it out before I explode They'll do that to you - Our SS constantly changed his stories throughout the whole process so i started writing motes each time i spoke to him to make sure i had everything correct...it still won't stop them blaming you or whoever else they can for issues, delays and everything else because the last thing they'll even consider doing is admitting fault... I do take notes, update my blog where I can, have every email, letter and sms. We've asked about discussions my husband and I have had with him, and he has outright denied ever saying it to us. And to be honest, we're sick of them coming back to fix things, every time they do, they just stuff up something that was fine before - kitchen was perfect, they installed the dishwasher and screwed straight through 2 panels. The tried to fix a protruding nail on the staircase by hammering it back in, all they did was take a chunk of timber out from above it. Carpet was laid before painting finished, they put paint all around the edges, the cleaned the nicks out of the cavity sliding door to the kitchen pantry now you can't open it, the ensuite toilet flooded bed 1 & 5, now the toilet sounds weird and clunky, we had a bowed piece of timber to one of the bedroom window sills, even EHI told them it wasn't right at one of the check measures, instead of fixing it they just planed 3cm off it so now the shutters sit crooked!! The attention to detail leaves alot to be desired...and to be honest, my husband would much rather just fix it himself and know it's been done properly. We've been hit with an 'excavation' cost, that we have pictures of right before and like hours after, but not enough to prove that $3000 worth of excavation ever took place, which we know didn't happen as there was no evidence of it on our land, there was no evidence of debris from excavation, even just where our slab is there is no way they needed to excavate.
