Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16267Oct 17, 2016 3:40 pm Mr RS ... yes indeed it was fast. We are building in Mango Hill, QLD. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16268Oct 17, 2016 3:56 pm Hi all, Sales person today told me that Clarendon no longer allow significant changes to plans. For example, moving a toilet in main bathroom he was reluctant to do. Basically said we cant do it. Other things though like closing an alfresco is ok at an extra price. Why? Is this the case or is this just the sales person? Should i ask another sales consultant? Thanks in advance. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16269Oct 17, 2016 4:13 pm it depends at what phase you are asking them to make change. If you have applied or received initial approval and signed contract, its a tedious process to make changes for toilets and send back for approval. same for Alfresco for energy efficiency rating. They still should be able to change it if you threaten to walk out, but changing drawing involves multiple team to work on variations, new drawings, approvals that means more time. They say NO just to reduce their extra work. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16270Oct 17, 2016 4:20 pm Thanks falcon86. I'm still in the pre-quote stage, right at the very beginning. Just find it it strange and frustrating that they weren't budging, didn't even try to accommodate my needs. Thats why i'm thinking i should try a different sales person for another opinion. Just push for it bid harder. I know my sales rep said out right no to few things but after 2 - 3 visits and few pushes he eventually drew what we wanted. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16272Oct 17, 2016 4:30 pm Thanks topiwalab. I'll try that. I thought I was already being pushy, obviousoy not enough. He did say though that if i put a depoist then he'll check with management. So bit of shiftiness going on there!! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16273Oct 17, 2016 4:35 pm We had heaps if changes. I think he is just been silly. We extended or entire house by 1.2m in width, changed rooms around internally and reconfigured our entire ensuite to something completely different. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16276Oct 17, 2016 5:50 pm The only reason I can think of for them not making major changes to the plans would be to avoid stuff ups in the build due to SS or whoever not understanding the plans. But like you said Spart, they would lose half their business. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 16278Oct 18, 2016 4:42 pm I'm in construction just got the slab on. I wanted add another Gas point to my leisure room for future heater connection. As expected CSC came back and say there's a $1000 admin fee. Just wondering if anyone had luck adding things once they r in construction without incurring an admin fee? Any tips? Will taking to SS directly help? Is it possible to talk to tradies directly and pay them for the extra work? But like you said Spart, they would lose half their business. We changed the whole left side of the ground floor basically and it was no issue at drafting stage. BUT lots of mistakes ensued due to the house not being standard and I heard plenty of times "we are a project builder". So much so that I told them if I heard it again I would walk. We wouldn't have built the house without the changes. We were upfront about it and also said we were tossing up between clarendon and another builder. Tell your sales guy that. That said, we signed in February 2015 so it's possible things could have changed. We wouldn't have built with them either if our plan wasn't modified.
