We finally made it!! From signing the contract on 25th March! To commencing construction on 14th July!! To getting our keys yesterday! 22 weeks and three days construction! We still have so much to do! We got the standard Sheridan towel set and tool box! Hubby was happy that our Alfresco beams were boxed finished! Overall excellent experience! Some minor things to fix up but we don't mind as we are looking at moving in end of January. Few pics attached.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are a bit thin for my liking I going to ask for a bigger box, but it already looks 10x better. They have not got back to me about this, after they agree to do it, I will chase them up in the new year. I do not think anybody would be happy with exposed beams. I wouldn't be happy about it as well... I'm building a Sheridan 34, the display home at The Ponds has the alfresco with the beams boxed in. That's my expectation of the finish for the Alfresco. Will also be chasing up our SS & AM. I'm building the Sheridan 34 and have handover on Tues at the moment I'm pushing them to box in our beams as at the moment they are just exposed timber and look awful. I didn't pay over 10,000 for an alfresco to be finished like that Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 12589Dec 20, 2015 7:14 pm It really is a nice little money saver that they have tried to slip through to the keeper. I don't care how they try and spin it. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 12590Dec 21, 2015 11:18 am That tool chest they give you is actually really handy. They stock it with some tools too, to get you started. I've already used the supplied tools at least a dozen times since moving in. I had my own basic tools previously of course, but never a proper tool chest stocked with tools. Also, the towels are good quality along with the soap and candle stuff in the other box. Makes for a nice icing on the top. We still have bits and pieces needing fixing in the house, but for the most part everything is done. We'll now be waiting for the 90 day thingy that happens to list all the odds and ends. They basically say that if there is anything completely unacceptable, requiring immediate attention or emergency repairs etc, that of course we would contact them, but for all the tiny little things like a lick of paint here and there, a hole to fill etc etc.. that usually would wait for the 90 day "settling in" period. $350k to $500k is a lot but it's not a fortune in today's climate. If you want perfection in both design and build, then expect to be paying millions. Should you get a high quality build as promised? Of course you should! Should you get perfection? Well.. in a perfect world, sure.. but I, and my wife, never expected perfection and we got a great house that we are extremely happy and proud to live in. Don't set your expectations too high or at unreasonable heights based on the reasonable inexpensive build costs, and you should be happy with the results. We were. Quick question - are the bath towels normal towel sizes, or are they bath sheets? My hubby and I have Sheridan bath sheets, and are due to buy some new ones, but I was going to hold off if they are bath sheets (I doubt they are), as we are looking at Feb hand over... I can deal with our bath towels 2 more months if I need to... haha! We are extremely happy overall! We too have accepted that we will not get perfection! But near enough is good enough for us!! We are focusing on bigger things now like designing our pool and making this house a home! P.S Hubby and I are super stoked about the stocked tool chest and beautiful Sheridan towels..
