Ours plans show it like that too but it's something we didn't notice as the display is in the middle. Hi Cat83 and others, A couple of points on your front entry and the way it has been constructed (I'll get to the brickwork soon). Firstly, check the plans. If it shows the door to the middle then it should be built accordingly. If not and you have chosen this home from a display home, you have an argument that it isn't built as per the display. VCAT tend to take into account that your average person isn't an expert at reading details on plans. For others reading this and about to build, this is one of many things that you need to check (or get someone to do it for you) before you sign off your drawings. As for the brickwork, the way it is layed and the bond used is simply a short cut by the bricklayer. The "Bond" or pattern (as used earlier) should continue so in other words, every second layer should be made of 2 half bricks. The "stack bond" currently used is not tied into the adjacent wall a therefore will eventually crack over time. Your SS will know this regardless of giving you the brush off with "that's how its always done". I would be pushing to get it fixed... its your home, your investment. regards, John CR Partners Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 11494Oct 13, 2015 2:44 pm Hi guys, long time no post, we just been finishing off all the bits and got approval etc. We have cleared our site, sites been pegged and been given our SS and CSC. CSC is ET and SS is DdM ( NSW Sydney ) Just curious anyone had these guys and any communication tips needed for either of them. ET seems fine but not spoken to DdM yet. Also if you had your time again with your first talk with the SS, what would of you done to make the process smooth or less hassle free. There been a few horror stories on here in the last twelve months I hoping to not have especially the door issue above. I will not accept that. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 11496Oct 13, 2015 3:51 pm Yes this is exactly what I have said that the brickwork makes it stand out more. Our SS has sent the following to show that it was positioned like this on the plans. We wouldn't have picked up on it though with everything else, just wish we had been told. I've left a message for the ss requesting that the bricks are redone inline with the rest of pattern. Why on earth would thy do that.. Seems ludicrous to me. We luckily noticed and got it changed to centered. I just don't understand why they wouldn't centre a front door.. Clearly it's doable! the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6747 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7872 |
