Hopefully it keeps going and you're in soon. Can't wait till I get to that stage Building the Fairmont 38 with upgrades @ Castle Hill NSW Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10588Sep 02, 2015 7:11 pm So we are having interesting conversations with our CSC. We are doing flooring after hand over and have asked Clarendon to leave the skirting off so we can put the bamboo floor down and then out flooring people will put the skirting on. Clarendon have advised they will not cut to size or paint and will leave the skirting in bundles in the garage. We have asked why it can't be cut (we are happy to paint) and they said they won't do it! I don't understand. Anyone else doing wood after handover having this problem? Our floor person is saying this is crazy and they should cut and paint! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10589Sep 02, 2015 7:19 pm Spart So we are having interesting conversations with our CSC. We were looking at doing floors after handover and the guy who was quoting us said this is common with builders and suggested having clarendon still tack it on and he was going to then take it off, put the floors in and then reattach. That's what they do when doing renovations to existing houses anyway when putting floors in. Maybe that's an option? I actually ended up just doing floors with clarendon anyway because the price difference wasn't really worth it to me to have another thing after handover so I never asked clarendon about the suggested option. We would have gone with Clarendon but hated all their bamboo colors. Is tacking it on different to what they normally do? Like easier to get off? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10592Sep 02, 2015 7:28 pm I think that just means not glued on, which I'm pretty sure they shouldn't do unless they are feeling super lazy. We put new floors in our last place ourselves and I removed all the skirting. It was nailed in. There's a tool to use and you just jimmy it off. Not very hard and I am not really that handy. When it's glued on though you risk damaging the gyprock. Maybe ask clarendon how the skirting is attached and then ask your flooring guy if he will remove and replace the skirting if it's attached however clarendon attach it. Actually I'm interested to know how it's attached because I'm betting I'll be bored of my floors in a few years and will break out my flooring tools again haha! Good luck! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10593Sep 02, 2015 7:30 pm KandRCH It does get expensive when everything is upgraded KLB. The brick upgrade cost us nearly 10K but we took out the cladding and extended the house at the front and back. Where are you up to with your build? We are waiting waiting waiting! Need updated internal plans then we should be right to go to council. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10594Sep 02, 2015 9:01 pm Loving everyone's progress!! Fiona love the kitchen! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10595Sep 02, 2015 9:02 pm We did tiles after handover and they bundled the skirting in the garage. Just got a guy in last weekend to put the skirting on. It was only a few hundred dollars and he cut to size, no problems. They use a nail gun with a heap of nails, so taking it off might be difficult. I love my tiles and they just weren't an option through clarendon. Even my SS is raving about the tiles! We been speaking to some friends about any experiences with Clarendon. One person said 2 neighbours of his had built with Clarendon and they encountered problems during building and after building. Just to check if this is a one-off case or its a poor standard, how has everyone building with Clarendon been? Have they taken longer than initially said and is the quality of work unto scratch? FirstHomeBuilder2015 Stoked with Clarendon so far! They are extremely flexible with changing plans etc, upgrades can be pricey but their standard range is quite nice also! Very professional, great workmanship overall! Haven't had any major problems yet!! Fingers crossed! Oh and my brother built with them and they are stoked also! They would recommend Clarendon any day! You must be happy, it's looking great. It is Genneral stairs, but they won't deal with anyone off the street. They will only work with clients of project home builders. I tried to but some of these exact… 3 7957 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining?
