This is what SS told us. I think someone told me that if the pallets of bricks get wet they become heavier and don't lay as well? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 6893May 06, 2015 9:14 pm Yeah, I was told the same thing about the bricks. My brickie always covered a pallet if rain was forecast. Building with Clarendon, Glenelg 29 on the northern beaches, Sydney Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 6894May 06, 2015 9:18 pm Cat - Glaad to hear it all got sorted out and you can move onto the build stage now! Welcome to the new faces around, good to see more people joining the forum. DG85, I'm right there with you on the lack of trades my house has sat there for 5-6 weeks with barely anything done or anyone on site. I had a good run with my brickies luckily, but after that nothing for weeks. About the bricks needing to dry out yes and no u dont want the bricks too heavy or the mortar will get squashed more ( or they can do it but they need to mix the concrete/sand at a different and correct rate for this not to happen). But I had an odd day or 2 where they had to wait for weather to improve. Fingers crossed on this week of good weather. Finally today carpenters on site for cladding (although supplies stolen and some ruined from sitting on the ground), so meant to be insullation end of week and gyprock early next week but I don't hold my breathe until i see it happen now. Just makes it hard to get excited about a build with nothing much happening and delays, errors etc. Here's to hoping it moves fast from here. SB omg how exciting not very long at all for you, are u all prepared for the move?? So far with my landscaper I have been happy, going to re-lodge approval probably 2moro to get things moving there and have one less thing on the list to do. Brahma Bull looking great! I only had an inspection for pre-lining and then will probably have one before handover. Spart I'm getting Carpet Court at Prospect to install carpets, the man that owns it is such a lovely down to earth man and unbelievably helpful. Really good range of carpets and a great price too that best I could find for what I was after. Tiles I'm not sure yet still deciding..There is tile direct as a private client, lexatonia at seven hills or the tile factory auctions. Just remember if you are doing tiling after handover to make sure depending on the type and thickness of the tile you choose u may need your kitchen benchtops, stairs and door frames raised, just something to think about. As we only found this out once at construction and too late to change things and a very stressful week measuring everything to make sure dishwasher would fit and that stairs would be even heights etc. Building the Waterside34 (39 after upgrades) Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 6895May 06, 2015 9:53 pm Hi everyone, we are looking at building a Madison 35. Just wondering did everyone go with the Plus Price? Has anyone seen the individual costs of the Plus components to compare costs! Just a tad confused at the moment! Thanks in advance Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 6896May 06, 2015 10:04 pm Nelly83 So far with my landscaper I have been happy, going to re-lodge approval probably 2moro to get things moving there and have one less thing on the list to do. With regards to that.. what exactly did you need to "lodge for approval"? How detailed does the plans need to be etc? I remember it was not long ago when your build was delayed at framing stage... PennoDream - Congrats on the move! Saw your blog. Your place is looking stunning! rmjose18 - You are not far off from PCI it seems... How exciting! Cat83 - Glad your rainwater tank is all sorted! Agreed underground is a better outcome than backyard! It seems most people whose builds started with us (Oct'14) have already moved or almost at PCI! I don't know how far we are from PCI... Lock up is FINALLY here & we have stairs! But end of January they changed our SS and its been good. All we had upto end of January was slab and half a frame. No roof trusses even. But, thats all behind us now. Had the walkthrough yesterday. Mostly minor items. Couple of items to watch out for.... -make sure drawers and cupboards all line up and there are no chipped edges. -If you have soft close drawers, make sure they work properly -Also check above the architraves on top of the doors/windows, where they meet the wall. Sometimes there could be a gap there. Our SS had already checked the walls for paint imperfections and every room had painters tape marked touch-ups are needed. Tiling was supposed to have been done before walkthrough, but he's starting tomorrow now. All goes well, keys on next Wednesday, or latest by Friday ! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 6900May 07, 2015 7:17 am Exciting Sydney build - and I must admit a tad stressful at the same time! We had our splash backs installed yesterday so only other major thing left is our shutters which are not due until the 18tjh Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I also was able to hang my artwork yesterday!
