Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3863Jan 09, 2015 11:35 am rmjose18 wow tanya... 72 downlights and 58 extra lights!!!! i have half of that!! which home are u building? and u r at kensington right? we r close by - tuscan rise Rose, I think she means she has 72 lights in total.... shes paying for 72 downlights, plus you have to add an extra light point for each downlight (as standard is one light point per room)... is that where you are confused.... she doesn't have 130 lights in her house! don't forget people.... if you are building 2 story, you pretty much HAVE to have clarendon install at least the wiring for the downlights on the ground floor during to construction... as there is no roof space... but you can save money buy installing the downlights themselves after handover. Building Glenelg 27 in Newcastle. 1st July - On Site 3rd December - Handover Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3864Jan 09, 2015 11:56 am Well absolutely no work on our site this week. So dissapointing - we were suppose to get all of our data cabling tomorrow but not sure how that works when the electrical hasn't been done and the roof hasn't been completed. Urggghhhh Built a Fairmont 35 in Pennant Hills. Completed May 2015. http://www.pennodream.wordpress.com - Blog updated regularly Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3865Jan 09, 2015 11:59 am We dealt with ty also initiallY Bugger we don't have the same SS PennoDream Rose your place looks MASSIVE!! Regarding downlights we got Clarendon to put in 65 downlights at $74 each. They are HPM LED downlights. I don't think they are available any more. These downlights have a 6 years warranty and shouldnt need to be changed for 6 years and are also dimmable. We have an additional 23 double powerpoints, 3 outdoor powerpoints, 33 light points and the IXL things for all the bathrooms. Our upgrade from cladding to brick on the first floor was $1500 - a no brainer for me We had Ty for our sales guy and after all the places we got tenders from he was the most accurate in his costing esitmates and also gave us some good ideas. Drove past our place today and nothing. Still waiting for the lower roof to go on. We have all of our audio and home automation stuff being wired in on Saturday so I'm not sure how that works without part of the a roof and it looks like the electrical will be next week. Once again not sure how it works without the roof complete. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3869Jan 09, 2015 1:21 pm Hey Everyone Just wanted to make a big shout out thanks to Rose for helping us get through a structural change that we were previously told was not possible. Couldn't have done it without you Great forum guys and girls! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3870Jan 09, 2015 1:31 pm Hi all!!! I am fairly sure that my build starts...NEXT WEEK!! I am so excited!! I cannot believe the journey thus far and I met most of you when you were in admin stage/hell and now most peoples homes are starting to take shape. SO excited!! My site supervisor has been allocated and it is MV- Heidi and Laura- do you have him as well? Or anyone else in the Brisbane area?? I am getting my retaining wall done today at a cost of 2K I think- just timber sleepers but I am certain that it is all underground and you won't even see it- something with the way my land falls- so there's another 2K on top of my siteworks buried underground- bringing that grand total for my 'flat' block of land to I think...27K. Now that's left to do is wait and let the Clarendon guys work their magic. If only storm season can subside. Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3871Jan 09, 2015 1:35 pm CocoBrisbane.. Congrats how exciting Clarencemcrae - awwwww shucks!! am glad i could help this is a fantastic forum and great place to discuss your home building excitement sometimes even family doesnt get it when one batch of brick isnt delivered!! samara..aaa..ok... i get it.. i am still jet lagged lol! blame it on sleep deprivation Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3872Jan 09, 2015 3:19 pm Great progress on the build rmjose18. It appears SJ is concentrating on only one build at a time :/ I wonder how far away we are in the pipeline. I definitely echo your sentiment justwondering1. It frustrates you no end when you see other Clarendon houses overtake you on the progress and you get nothing as told by your SS. I was supposed to get the frame done before they left in December. Its only still partially up - no roof or windows installed. For more than a month from mid November (when we got the external plumbing done) till Christmas break, we had tradies for probably half a day. Thats when they left the frame half finished. They never came back. Rest of the frame (roof trusses, windows) is still sitting at weird angles all over the slab. No amount of emails or complaining will help. They will just do it their way. Had a fantastic admin process. I guess Clarendon will now make up for the excellent customer service they provided me in the admin and force me to change my opinion about their build process. Edit: And just as I finished typing, the rain Gods let go. Looked at the forecast and I can kiss another week goodbye. Thanks Clarendon. We just heard from Clarendon and our frames will start on the 14th Jan and will take approx. one week. We too had to build a retaining wall and it cost $1800 total, originally quoted $1200 but some issues were raised, which seems the normal with building. Our SS's initials are GP so we have a different person to you, I think Laura has the same as us. Haven't really had much to do with him up till this point and he doesn't give phone updates as I've read other do on here. My CSC does all our updates and is pretty good about communication considering how bad the admin stage was. As far as our slab invoice never arriving, we were told today that since our slab was poured so closed to Xmas they didn't bother sending it. Accounting are still on holidays (QLD) till the 19th so we have had a whole month since our slab was poured without paying, that has to make up for some of the "hell" admin put us through Unfortunately that means we'll get the slab and framing stage invoice at the same time So happy that you finally are at construction stage, I know the troubles you've had, we'll all look forward to the picture updates!! Edit: And just as I finished typing, the rain Gods let go. Looked at the forecast and I can kiss another week goodbye. Thanks Clarendon. I sympathize with you Sydney-build. Like I said, I'm not being selfish as they have done plenty on the inside but my house is now exposed to the elements like this and other storms we have had. On the 2nd December, we got half of one brick wall done and haven't seen them since. Brickies themselves said we have to finish off a house and your house is definitely next.....see you in 7-8 days. That was on the 2nd December. Then the SS kept saying that when the gyprockers come to do the gyprocking, I will have gyprockers working on the inside and brickies on the out side. Well, Gyprockers finished 3-4 weeks ago. Also, just before xmas, he said that they fell behind but will finish up the other job before xmas and will start my place on the 5th January. Well, they did start but not my house, but the house next street which got excavated 6 weeks after mine. Obviously he is sending them everywhere else except my house. Stop using the excuse that you don't have brickies.....it's a load of BS!!!! Oh, SS was suppose to call me today as he does every Friday, but guess what.....no call. I tried calling him and he is not answering. Stop feeding us crap........end of rant!!! Sorry guys, just so ** off atm!!! Sydney-build, honestly, I feel for you as you can't even get them to start let alone finish.....oh, I can't use the language and say what I want on this forum but......GRRRRR!!!! He's not been much of a communicator so far, but our build has made steady progress, so we are happy. We usually text him for updates and he's quick to reply. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3880Jan 09, 2015 8:32 pm Samara you are correct with my electricals. The problem is with down stairs is that you have to get at least the light point put in($58) as they can't be done later. Then if you have Clarendon supply and install it's another $62 per light. When I googled the type of light they use now (apparently they are the latest and don't need changing for approx 15-20 years) are around $42 each to but anyway so not worth waiting till handover. Admin are soooooooooooo slooooowwwwwww it drives me nits. My CSC needs a lot of pushing to get other depts moving. A word of advice, if you are frustrated with something, if you live close (as I do) to the head office, just turn up and deal with it in person. Is I turn up in person I get Esstimates there and then, otherwise I wait a week or 2. We should be in council be end of month. the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6871 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
