Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3384Dec 02, 2014 11:57 am We are at a stand still. We have our final payment in our hands... but we are at logger-heads over our shower niches. They have done an awful job tiling them and we want them fixed... but they (tiler and SS) seem to think they are fine. Our floor tiling was supposed to start today (SS allowing them to start prior to handover as we are using Tile Direct anyway)... but just went there and no-one is there. Everything else seems to have been done, except a couple of broken windows which SS says he has in his car. So now I just need to convince hubby that they wont budge on fixing the shower niches, and we should just suck it up and move in... and get my brother (a tiler) to fix them later). Siiiiiiigh. As long as the tiling starts tomorrow we have a few more days to argue about it. Just frustrating that they are expecting us to be happy with sub-standard workmanship. Considering up until now I have not been able to sing Clarendon's praises enough.... im getting quiet cranky! First is the crappy silicone that was put over the top of chipped edges Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Next is the rough job on the edges. Also, the line you can see on the inside edge is actually a tile that lays lower that the edge Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And this is a damaged window frame that has been fixed. Not great, but I'll probably be the only one who notices it as it's up high. That is so bad I wouldn't be handing that cheque over until it's fixed either including that crappy window fix! Building modified Wentworth 35 Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3390Dec 02, 2014 4:33 pm Lol. That's not poor workmanship, that's blatantly faulty. I wouldn't cop that. $395 Fixed Priced Landscape Plans for DA M: 0435 127 244 | W: bluegumdesign.com.au | E: info@bluegumdesign.com.au Residential | Commercial | Industrial Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3392Dec 02, 2014 5:25 pm Samara0412 . That's terrible! I wouldn't be accepting that! Think how that's going to look in a couple of years time when all the silicon is peeling away! Get the window sorted too...it will be one of those things that annoys you everytime you see it!! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3393Dec 02, 2014 5:29 pm YabbaDabbaBuild What aircon were you supposed to be getting? It was the standard 18kW brivis, no idea what it's been upgraded too. My husband spoke to the AC company and we're still waiting on it in an email! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3394Dec 02, 2014 5:41 pm Sam, make them change it. That is so wrong..you are spending so much money on them and they can't even give you a decent workmanship. Did you hire a private inspector? Did he/she anything about it? I think I will hire a private inspector to make sure Clarendon are doing everything properly cause I am not really familiar with building houses and might miss small details (which should be fixed by Clarendon anyhow). You should probably put a complaint to someone higher than that site inspector to get it fixed. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3395Dec 02, 2014 7:35 pm We have a meeting in the morning and this is our main issue... And I can see it being a massive fight. They have been "fixed" again since those photos but I haven't seen them... So fingers crossed they are better... But I doubt it. I'll let you know. Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3396Dec 02, 2014 8:26 pm Clarendon came through on the blue led lights! It is likely that will be the end of my wins. I still have no start date as the facade was a work in progress and now other builds will be prioritised due to time constraints and a few other loose ends. My father says that Clarendon are stalling so that I give up and just cancel the build but I am hopeful that I will have the most amazing build ever seen and this house will be top notch. I am living and dying by the operations manager atm and I know that I am not his favourite client- I feel that I need to interpretive dance my contract and variations and that I need a miracle to get this house into reality. @Sam0412 that is awful. Truly horrible even! Let us know of the outcome. Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3398Dec 03, 2014 8:56 am Good luck Sam fingers crossed it's all fixed properly. Crazy if its left like that its like buying a new car with a scratch on it and not either getting compensation or the scratch fixed. Hope everyones builds r ok from the strong windsxand rain yesterday. Lots of trees around here down. Building the Waterside34 (39 after upgrades) Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3399Dec 03, 2014 10:39 am Sam0412 Final cheque in my hand... Off to what will hopefully be handover... Wish me luck!!! Good luck!! They really have the advantage though, with Xmas shutdown so close and post handover demands you want. Wave the cheque around and don't let them bully you. Maybe a compromise, window ok, but tiling needs fixing. Hopefully, it hasn't come to that, and theyes fixed it all already. Well, you can hope!! Building with Clarendon, Glenelg 29 on the northern beaches, Sydney Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 3400Dec 03, 2014 10:42 am Anyone know if it is ok to leave the slab all formed up, with pods and steel in the rain? Our pour was supposed to be today, but I think the forecast of more storms has delayed it. And the forecast for the week is pretty bad too. Building with Clarendon, Glenelg 29 on the northern beaches, Sydney the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6871 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 8001 |
