We are building in Newcastle in a 'flood zone', and council requirements are that we build 900mm off the ground.
Masterton quoted us for an infilled slab.
Anyone else doing/done this with their home?
Browse Forums Building A New House Anyone building with an infilled slab? 2May 27, 2011 6:25 pm We are in Newcastle as well - in the 1 in 100 too. Our options were to build on bearers and joists, on a very thick slab or import fill then retain and pier extensively. For us we chose to import something like 15000 tonne of fill then pier. We didn't want to have a raised slab for aesthetic reasons. In laws are building up front and they are building on bearers and joists. Some things are worth waiting for. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24827 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16142 4 6201 |
