Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 27, 2011 4:57 pm Hi all, My g/f & I have bought a block with a small slope - approx 3.0m from front to back of the block, but only 1.5m on the build area. We're yet to choose a builder, but will go with a volume builder i.e. Metricon, porter davis You hear sooooo many stories about people getting overcharged for the site cut & fill, especially for blocks with a slope. I've read a few blogs and there are some obvious things to look out for. But I'm wondering if there are companies you can hire that will oversee the cost element to ensure you don't get overcharged. I figure if you pay someone around $3K, they might save you around $10K - $15K by picking up items you're being overcharged for. Any ideas? Re: Site cut & fill costs 2May 27, 2011 5:59 pm Some people are overcharged but in a lot of cases the main concern is may be just that they are paying more than they expected. If you are concerned the best way is to make sure as much as possible is included in the price. That would mean getting a site survey and soil investigation and then going to the builders and asking them to quote based on the provided information. that will probably cost around $3,000 but the builder should be able to take that off the house price because they don't have to do it. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13111 Is anyone building with Mojo and have a recent site cost tender 0 15954 |
