Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 23, 2011 8:54 pm Dear All, I contacted PD today to organise our 12 month inspection. After having spoken to the consultant, I was left with the impression that the PD maintenance team may become "difficult" when it comes to determining whether or not they will fix things. I was hoping forum members may be willing to share their experience as my concerns may be unfounded. Thanks Fergal. Re: PORTER DAVIS - 12 MONTH INSPECTION 2May 23, 2011 9:36 pm For me difficult was one word for it - another would be totally and utterly useless. They agreed to fix about half of what I asked and the other half either never got done or got done badly and then quickly deteriorated back to how it was before they started. Not to mention having to wait for trades that never turn up. In the end I gave up - their warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I have nails popping all over the place and eaves that have given way and are sagging but I'm not getting them back to do some half *** repair and shorten my life dealing with idiots. Re: PORTER DAVIS - 12 MONTH INSPECTION 3May 23, 2011 10:08 pm Thankyou Mozzie, for taking the time to respond to my post. Your experience concerns me as I feared this would be the case. What is worrying is that when we raised several issues at our 3 month insepection, we were told to wait until the 12 month inspection for them to be fixed. It all seems to be making sense ... another win for PD. Re: PORTER DAVIS - 12 MONTH INSPECTION 5May 23, 2011 10:50 pm We aren't talking about rebuilding a whole house. We're talking about fixing cracked plaster, holes in the roof and malfunctioning toilets. So no I wouldn't hire a lawyer. If anything it would be far cheaper to hire the trades yourself and get the stuff fixed properly. Most of it tends to be minor and not expensive to fix and the stuff that isn't cheap to fix they generally try to worm their way out of anyway. From my experience they reserve their very worst tradesmen to make the repairs such as wood to fix a gap in the roof tiles, wire to fix a toilet instead of the correct plastic part and repainting that I could improve on with my eyes closed. After surviving the PD experience life is far too short to take things further with complaints or lawyers. Get out the polyfiller, paint brushes and nails and give it a go yourself - seriously you could probably do a better job. But by all means get them back to fix it and see how you go - just don't loose sleep over the minor stuff because you could fighting with them for the next 12 months rather that enjoying the prospect of a PD free existance. Re: PORTER DAVIS - 12 MONTH INSPECTION 6May 23, 2011 11:08 pm Six months after moving in and we are still undergoing our "3 month" maintenance. Hopefully most of the issues picked up at PCI will be fixed soon. Would never build with PD again ... The consolidation means that Places properties will be transferred into Porter Davis Homes group, so we will have even more stunning designs under the PD brand. For those of you who aren’t aware of Places Homes, it was founded in 2008 during which time many first and new home buyers discovered an affordable opportunity to build a brand new home with a stunning range of bespoke Places designs. The consolidation of brands will not affect Places’ existing obligations, as all current customer and supplier contracts will be honoured and construction will continue as planned. Also the entirety of the Places staff will be transitioning into Porter Davis Homes group. The rebranding program is due to commence on 1 June and all current Places and Porter Davis display homes will remain open, with Places Homes being rebranded by 1 July 2011. Current or existing Places Homes clients can call their local Porter Davis Lifestyle office for any further information. East – 9709 1200. North – 8467 1200. West – 9363 9555. Porter Davis and I seem to have completely different ideas as to what should be included. Does anyone know if it is actually written somewhere as to what's included / not included, as I can't seem to find anything. Has anyone had a 12 month maintenance visit and can advise what things were done / weren't done. Thanks in advance.
