Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 21, 2011 11:13 pm Through a fortunate case of getting bogged on site one spring afternoon we learned of and made contact with a local architect who we engaged to draw up my design - with a little tweaking. The D/A was submitted late December and around two months later we had approval. During discussions with the architect we learn that he also builds and has a small team of workers who take a lot of pride in their work, he only builds a small number of houses each year. We liked the idea that we could have one person follow the whole project through from design to turn key and so is building our 'farmhouse'. It has taken us just over three years to get to this far in our treechange, we still have a long way to go but we are finally under way So what have we done so far? * Designed the house using solar passive principles * Submitted D/A and recieved approval for the house and shed * Chosen the exact location of the house on our 100 acres * Determined where the road from the front gate to the house will go * Chosen internal bricks and close to having the external brick determined * Windows and External doors What are we currently working on? * Infrastucture - power lines and road * Choosing bathroom and kitchen fittings for the plumbing layout requirements for the slab What we still have to work on? * Everything else ie tiles, benchtops, tiles, carpet, paint, window colour and the list goes on - Oh My! What on earth have we gotten ourselves in for? Here's the drawings of our farmhouse Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20434 Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4549 4 9070 |
