Another SA build thread to follow!! Your plan looks great. Lots of room for 4 kids. Looks like your builder is on the ball and keen to start. I hope your build goes smoothly for you. Re: Building the family home - SA 8May 22, 2011 10:56 am Thank you Broom and Theresa Yes there was a house on the land before . The previous owners had a bad fire and decided to demolish and sell the land . Apparently the builder is really quiet at the moment so they were desperate to get going Re: Building the family home - SA 9May 22, 2011 12:12 pm Your plan isnt boring at all It looks great and it looks like a really good size block Re: Building the family home - SA 10May 26, 2011 6:19 pm Hi BuilldingSA, your plan looks great, plenty of rooms and space for everyone. Your land must have a fairly wide frontage as it looks almost ranch-like. We are doing a custom build too but long and narrow to fit our block. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building the family home - SA 11May 26, 2011 7:24 pm Absolutely love your design. Looking forward to our slab going down, I will get to watch from my kitchen window Oh watching from a kitchen window would be MUCH nicer , I will be in the car with the heating on and 4 children in their pj's I can't believe they are allowed to start that early ??? I feel bad for our neighbours Re: Building the family home - SA 19May 31, 2011 9:22 am funny how times and expectations have changed - when I was growing up there was no such thing as an activity room or family room for that matter, just a lounge with a separate dine/kitchen. A friend of mine brought up 5 kids (eldest male then four girls) on her own in a three bedroom house. She took the smaller bedroom, her son had one of the other bedrooms and the four girls made do in the largest bedroom. She recently built a small extension (dine/family/study) and the remaining two girls finally have a room each. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building the family home - SA 20May 31, 2011 4:31 pm d@n What happens when all the girls grow up and each wants their own room? Will hubby give up the study? Also no activity/play room for the kids? They do each have their own room It says ''study '' because apparently council wouldn't have accepted a plan with 5 bedrooms ??? Hubbies study is the Computer nook . I plan to do family daycare so the room off the kitchen will be a toy/activity/ kids tv room This house is huge compared to our old house and they have never had their own bedrooms before so hopefully they will think its luxury for a little while We have a SLAB Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Front porch Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi everyone, Newbie renovator here, after some advice for combining our family room in the picture and the alfresco and make a larger family room.
