Site Handover

Sounds like you haven't sign/start anything with your builder yet, as otherwise this would all be specified in the contract.

Don't know about your area, my understanding is in NSW, you can have your house "without" kitchen, bathroom, cornice, skirting, shower screen, ...etc been build by your builder --- and you do that after handover, it's all depend on what's been discussed in the contract. But your council/builder's certifier won't be issuing you the temporary Occupation Certificate (which legally allows you to move in, but does not allow you to sell the house), until the kitchen, shower screen, bathroom, ...etc critical areas all done and checked.

So, just my 2 c, have a chat with your builder/ local council, everything should be negotiable. In the end, it's your money!

Also, please be aware that for most project home builders, they will charge huge profit margin on any extra things you add, but only refund tiny bit on things you cancelled, claiming "they buy in bulk, that's why the cost is very low"....


Slightly off track, to receive the proper OC (to sell the house), you need to finish the drive way, landscaping, ...etc. One of my neighbours finished their house 2 years ago, but still haven't finish their landscaping to get the OC...
