Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 181Sep 04, 2012 6:45 pm Hi All, Good news, we have moved in and have been in Jordan Springs for a month. We loved it. The house is great, the neighbours are amazing and the summer is coming!!! Just a couple of questions if anyone knows the answers: Is there going to be a fence along the Northern Road from the working traffic lights to the end of Bonney Crescent? If not... why not??? The reason for asking is that last Friday morning at 3am we were robbed. They picked the lock on our sliding alfresco doors, stole our phones, wallets, keys. Using the keys they stole my husbands work van. We were in the house at the time sleeping and only knew about the intrusion when we heard the van start. My husband took chase but to no avail. the police were amazing and the van was found across the Northern Road in Cranebrook!!!!! The thief has been identified and he lives approx 2kms away in Cranebrook. In fact you can see his road from the end of Bonney Crescent looking across the Northern Road into Cranebrook. I appreciate that we are near a small pocket of socio economically challenged housing, but I feel that having known more about the locality I would have chosen another area, so hopefully the sound proof wall is going to be put up to maybe hold off any more incidents. I fully understand that once more houses are built and occupied the amount of burglaries will decrease, but I was very scared and worried that we are sitting targets . Not a nice feeling after building in such a great looking suburb. Sorry to be a complete killjoy for everyone, but I feel that we all need to be vigilant and aware of these incidents. Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 182Sep 04, 2012 9:57 pm Oh goodness me what a horrible thing Have you spoken to Lend Lease about what has happened to see if they can shed some light on what has happened? Can I ask where you are in Jordan Springs? I hope this is just a one off occurance and not a regular thing, now I am worried Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 183Sep 04, 2012 10:22 pm That's horrible! We live in Bonney Cres near the park. Not spoken to Lendlease as yet. That's next on my list. I will say however, the police were amazing and have found the scummy toad. They even managed to recover about 70% of my husbands tools. They did say that it's to be expected for a while until the suburb is really up and running. Lucky us!!!! I am sure it will all die a death sooner or later. But it leaves a bitter taste I can tell you. Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 185Sep 04, 2012 11:35 pm I could imagine I sincerely hope that is the first and last time for you. I would imagine the police are right, until the suburb is up and running it will be an easier target. The houses are starting to go up in Northridge now so it won't be long before it is booming even more. Is there a house behind you? Did they get easy access that way? Let us know how you get on with Lend Lease Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 186Sep 09, 2012 6:29 pm HI everyone, Still reeling from the robbery, but what can you do? Lendlease were not very interested in what had happened and there is not a fence/wall be erected along the northern road border so again nothing can be done! There you go! But seriously thank you for your concern, we all need to be aware and look out for each other in J S. On a completely different note, we are trying to work out which provider would be best for the internet, phone and fibre optic company to use. Has anyone installed theirs and how is it performing? Regards Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 187Sep 10, 2012 10:10 pm There is talk that the housing commission in Cranebrook will be torn down and the people living in them will be segregated to blend better in with the community this is on a plan somewhere and I know they're focusing on Campelltown first as our area is no where near as bad. I think we should get onto our state member to hurry it up. Sadly when they're all together things like this happen more frequently. Once the estate fills up though it should become less of an issue. I am currently looking into it for when we get in at the end of the year Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 189Sep 26, 2012 11:50 am Hi Telmish, I went with Exetel and am pretty happy with them. I'm on the B15-15gb plan with RV5 Voip which costs $44.95 a month. It's a 30mbps download/10mbps upload speed plan ($39.95) + 60 free VOIP calls ($5). I'm using a Netcomm NB16WV modem and I'm averaging 22mbps/8mbps speeds. Pretty good for a relatively cheap package. Easy to connect - but I did have to call them rather than do it on-line cause their addressing system didn't have Jordan Springs when I connected. Might be up and running now, but if it's not just give them a call and they do it over the phone. normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: BUILDING IN JORDAN SPRINGS 190Sep 26, 2012 11:54 am I have also just placed my order with Exetel. Am going for the 'OCM-A-60' plan which is 60GB a month DL and 25Mbps Down/5Mbps Up speedwise. Might upgrade to something faster at a later date depening on how much we use it.
