Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 13, 2011 10:24 pm Hi, I spent some time looking at bricks and the photos on the websites are different to the display centres, which look different to the houses used to build the bricks It takes up a lot of time, so here are some photos, I haven't photographed *all* the bricks, I think I skipped some but it might help someone Unfortunately my cameras white balance was a little of at the start, so I had to re-do some photos So they are there twice.... Hopefully this is useful to someone. Also looking for more pictures of homestead tan, or any other dark brown brick with white mortar I also liked the Victorian blue, but I have a feeling it will be an expensive upgrade or that its a painted brick. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62785756@N ... 585872107/ Re: Bricks Boral, and Austral Homestead tan pictures 2May 14, 2011 5:54 pm Thank-you so very much. What a nice thing to do for complete strangers. Those photos are fantastic and very clear. I've been looking for a brick that looks like Daniel Robertson's 'Hawthorn', who are based in Victoria (which are extremely expensive) and thanks to your great photography, I think I may have found it. "Leura" looks very similar. Off to Cardiff Boral Selection Centre next week and have a look. Thanks again. Very much appreciated. I think I've chosen Hawthorn with an off-white mortar, although homestead tan looks great as well Re: Bricks Boral, and Austral Homestead tan pictures 5May 15, 2011 8:56 am Just a little bit of advice... When choosing bricks, after you have chosen a couple of colours, you need to get addresses of houses where the LATEST batch has been used, as often they are different to what they have in display centres...and the colours can vary between batches and also (as I understand) state to state. I have Daniel Robertsons Hawthorn Tan bricks, and the newer batch varies quite a bit from the older batch in colour. They are still gorgeous bricks, but I'm glad I received the 'old' batch as that's what I chose, and that's what they had on display at the time! Searching for 'Leura' bricks on here, there have been a few colour issues with it from batch to batch, so just make sure you choose based on the 'current' batch, not an old one, or you may be disappointed. I know in Victoria we had several issues with supply of bricks from a couple of companies (Selkirk and Boral, I think) due to weather damage at the plant and also a fire a few years ago. This is also a pretty good thread, although lots of pics have been deleted and as it's old some of the batches have changed. But worth a look, anyway! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3737&hilit=what+bricks+did+you+choose Good luck! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Your house is beautiful. I'm looking at Borals 'Blackheath' now, as it is darker than 'Leura' and not as reddish. I'm in NSW.
