Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 10, 2011 10:09 am Hi, I am going to be building some townhouse which will be used as rental, and need some help with my staircase, in particular what material to use. I want to stay clear of a staircase that is carpeted. Can anyone suggest a cheap but durable timber that would be suitable for this application. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Adrian Re: Staircase Help - what kind of material??? 2May 10, 2011 11:28 am I'm pretty sure most "regular" staircases are pine frames with either carpet or a hardwood tread. I guess it depends on what type of flooring your are having throughout your home. I'd use the same to match. If you are having floating floors then the only recommendation is a hardwood timber that you can get stained to match your chosen floating floor Re: Staircase Help - what kind of material??? 3May 10, 2011 12:51 pm chrisandkate I'm pretty sure most "regular" staircases are pine frames with either carpet or a hardwood tread. I dont like the idea of the carpet, but i know this is a cheaper option. Might get a price on both and see which way to go. ATM leaning towards the hardwood and getting it stained. Thanks again Not sure if that works? I was told the issue is the headspace clearance requirement on step 4. My builder is proposing shifting the beam 310mm towards the kitchen...I'm… 2 2523 Staircases and sausages. Should thou wish to keep thy palate sweet for sausages, avert thine eyes from their crafting. 14 4580 |
