Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2011 10:52 am Hi Guys, need your help with this and we are building with Carlisle and it is in the wrapping stage now..plaster and bricklayinf still needs to be done and probably this will happen next week.. but the problem is when we just visited a home theatre shop today they mentioned that if we don't have speaker pre wiring it will cost us heaps to get it done after the hand over...but we haven't included this in our construction con contract and it is only projector pre wiring that we have included...what is your idea about this..?? I don't think that we can change it with Carlisle now since all the electrical wiring has been done by now and to get it done through an putside supplier, not sure whether the builder will allow anybody else to come in to the site during the building pweriod... I am any way going to ring my CLE on Monday but would like to hear your ideas about this as to the cost and effort to get this done after the handover..?? Thanks in advance..!! Re: need your advice.... Theatre wiring mid construction 2May 09, 2011 12:00 pm YES, ask them to add the speaker wiring for your surround speakers in the back at very least. Doing it later is not impossible but very difficult. If it is a 2-storey house, multiply cost and difficulty by 100. Theatre wiring mid construction 3May 09, 2011 2:40 pm WE had free installation with The Big Picture People - we didn't bother with any pre-wiring knowing that we were technically already paying for it! I spoke to our SS today and he said that we can get it done through an outside supplier and it is too late now to add it to Carlisle's electrical plan..We have time until this Friday before Cralisle starts on plastering.. Now the next issue, does any of you know anybody who can do this for us? Really appreciate any of your recommendations... The company I spoke to in the week end asked for $500 for the cable and installation... Re: need your advice.... Theatre wiring mid construction 5May 09, 2011 4:21 pm Hi Romani, maybe get in touch with one of the users here on home1 - usually in the home automation etc threads. he's on here as mattwalker and his website is http://www.thecableconnection.com.au I've seen a number of posts from people there who seem happy with his service and products. Although to be clear, I haven't bought anything from him and don't know him. My personal preference however would be for wireless rear speakers at the very least as after wiring up my last house with CAT-5 (2 ports to every room except laundry and baths ) I'd prefer to go with the minimal wire thru the walls option for comms and entertainment now Alamanda Point Cook (Stage 9) - Montrose 32 Our blog - http://alexandh-alamanda.blogspot.com/ Contract: 17/01/2011 Site Start: 25/02/2011 Slab: 18/03/2011 Frame: 30/03/2011 Lock-up: 21/04/2011 Re: need your advice.... My friend also got it done after the handover but she had to sepnd about $700 to cover the holes that they left after the installation..so I wanted to save that money and not decided yet whether to go with big Pictuire people or anybody else..
