Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2011 12:36 pm The painters have been onsite all weekend. Can't wait until we can see in. We are having 3 coats, so should be finished by the end of next week. I'ts been just over 10weeks since the slab was laid, including the Easter Break. Does anyone know how long after the painting is finished, it normally takes to handover? Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 3May 09, 2011 9:15 am Our slab went down in October... handover happened last day in June! I dont think that'll help you much... Ummm... going through the dates on our blog, our painting started late March... so going on our timeline with our builder... it was another 10 weeks or so until handover, as the splashback, benchtops, tiling, garage door, baths, basins, handles, and render all happened after the painting... Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 4May 09, 2011 9:41 am Thank's Erin, it's so hard to work out when to give notice on the rental. Our SS said last week it should be about 8 to 9 weeks. But they are going so fast, I don't believe it will be that long. Our baths, basins, cupboards, handles are all done, the undercoat for the render is done, we still have the tiling, carpets, garage door, which has been measured, also the driveway needs to be done and a level of the land down the sideway. I can't complain about how quick this build is going and they are doing a great job, it's just hard not knowing when to give notice, and book in my holidays, everyone building would be in the same boat. Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 5May 09, 2011 10:08 am That is the frustrating part! We ended up waiting until the last minute to give notice on the rental, then made sure we had 2 weeks access to both houses. It took every bit of that 2 weeks to move all of our belongings! Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 6May 09, 2011 10:19 am We will do the same, we have always moved everything in one day. Not again, it's just to hard. I have read so many stories, where people are given a date for handover and it just doesn't happen! so I need to make sure I don't give notice to early. Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 7May 10, 2011 5:16 pm Our painting is looking so good. Antique White throughout, 3 feature walls in Sheer Passion. Master, living and family. I like to keep all the features the same, our last home we did the same. Will do something different in DS's room. Tiles start Thursday, good on you Bentley, 11 weeks and look where we are. Our SS, is the best. Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 8May 11, 2011 9:44 am Our painting was finished on the 21/9/10 and we had handover on 18/10/10, so 3 weeks and 6 days. We did the floor coverings ourselves after handover, but aside from that, the builder did pretty much every thing else. Good luck!! Built the Coral Homes Hamilton 252 - moved in 20/10/2010 and loving it!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=27215 Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 9May 11, 2011 10:05 am ~Nic~ Our painting was finished on the 21/9/10 and we had handover on 18/10/10, so 3 weeks and 6 days. I have to give notice on the rental, so I might get on to the SS and see what he is thinking. It's happened so quick, the whole build, we are so lucky, we are glad we picked Bentley to build our home. We had heard so many good things about them, and I always research everything. It took me months of research on about every builder in Melbourne, we loved the display home as soon as we walked in and most of what you see is what you get. The Salesperson was fantastic, not pushy, so helpfull, there wasn't a thing he didn't know or help us with. Our admin girl has been great, and our SS is just brilliant. They did 3 coats and it looks fantastic. Thankyou for your help, when I saw your signature, I thought my Daughter must have been on here, she has the same for her facebook. Brad, our SS, is just amazing, the 11th week and we will have tiles The tilers are doing a great job, everything lined up perfectly. Congrats. It's looking good! Love the red walls (we have a red feature wall in out place as well ). Sounds like your place is moving along quickly ow, which is good. Hopefully you are in before too long! We did our inspection on our place on Wednesday, and Brad said everything fixed up by next week! We are getting our occupancy cert next Thursday, so all we need now is for the bank to com to the party and give us th money for Bentley! That's great news, next week and you will be in your new home. I bet you can't wait, it looks so good. Moving in this rain won't be much fun, I hope the rain holds off for you and then for us. The mud here is like quicksand. I don't know how long we have now, DH, will ring Brad tomorrow and see what he thinks. Inspection that can't be much fun, hope it all went well. We won't be moving straight in. Once we have taken the house we want to do our landscaping and fencing and blinds. Will be much easier to do without the burden of all the bills we will have when we removed in (we are still at home, so are sponging from our parents ATM ). But we are hopin to be in by July. The inspection actually wasn't bad. Brad, as usual, was very easy to get along with and didn't seem to mind that we where being very picky with all th pain spots And, as expected, there wasn't anythin too major to be fixed. Still very exciting though! Re: Our Bentley Sinatra, at Painting Stage 20May 16, 2011 5:09 pm Tiling is nearly finished, it looks great and there is alot of activity booked for the next two weeks. Our SS Brad, has told us the house will be finished in two weeks time. We should be in by the middle of June, if everything keeps going as perfect as it has so far. If all goes to plan, it would be a 16 week build from slab down, can't believe it . We are very happy with all the color choices we have made, it's such a relief to see them all together and know that you have got it right. We love our house, the way it flows, the plan is well thought out and we can't wait to move in, the rental is overflowing with all of our things, it will be great to have more room and to be able to hang things on the walls. Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6155 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn.
