Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 07, 2011 7:30 pm Hello, i'm new here but have a question I need help with. My husband and I are building with Dennis Family Homes and our site supervisor is a moron to say the least. On our inspection, we pointed out a few things that need to be attended to and he is giving us ridiculous excuses as to why they weren't done. One thing that is really bugging us is the bathrooms tiles. Where the tiles meet the wall, there is normally some kind of grout or sealer that is the same colour as the wall paint that kind of blends the tiles into the wall so to speak. Now, I've never seen a house without this before but he is trying to tell us that this is something DFH do not do. I think he has no idea what he's talking about (which he's demonstrated to us on many occasions) and trying to stooge us. So... my question is, does anyone know what this is called and also has anyone ever heard of a builder leaving this space empty so you can see where all the tiles meet and there is a step between the tiles and the wall. Thanks in advance! Bathroom: Tile question 2May 08, 2011 8:41 am Do you mean like a row of tiles used as a skirting? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is how mine are finished. The painter carefully painted the top of the tile with the wall colour to make it look "finished" Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Bathroom: Tile question 3May 08, 2011 4:37 pm I seen it done all ways from real rough with paint slapped on to neat and flat or neat and sloped. I think with the big thicker tiles they try harder to make a nice looking sloped finish. The tiles in the piccie above look nicely done. If yours are worse I reckon I'd kick up a fuss. Can you go take a look at how they done them in their display homes? Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end.
