Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 07, 2011 5:01 pm We have just started building our new home, plumbing is down and the slab will be any day. Can anyone tell me at what stage Telstra usually dig the trench and do the cabling ... And are we best to let actually let a Telstra contractor do the trench work? I realise the connection and cabling will be $299 but what has everyone else paid for trench work, approximately? Any past experiences and advise much appreciated. And because we live in a "smart community" the came in two days before hand over to do something inside with the box thing we have. Re: TELSTRA CONNECTION AND TRENCHING 3May 14, 2011 9:15 am I have posted in another thread about this same query, but to make it easy for you i`ll give a quick run down of my post. My builders elec told me telstra don`t dig the trench, the elec has to do it and telstra then comes out and runs the cable through the conduit the elec has placed in the trench and connects it all up for $299. The elec charges you(me $250) to dig a trench and put the conduit in it and cover it back up. I smelled a rat so rang telstra and asked if they dig they trench themselves, they said no they only feed and connect the cabling at each end for $299(1.. your house and 2... the pit in the street) So the elec had to do the $250 trench for them.
