Will the neighbours be objected to the plan (overshadowed their house maybe?) Thanks Homeone.... We opted for 2740 ceilings on the ground floor and 2340 on the upper storey. A few reasons, having the higher ceilings for the living areas gives us a feeling of open space and expanse while also raising the finished floor level of the upper storey - we have views and wanted to maximize the ability to enjoy them. We opted for the lower ceilings in the upper floor bedroom areas for two reasons, one to keep the area a little more cozy - you don't really want the bedrooms feeling "lofty" and also something you may want to consider... your local council will most likely have restrictions on the finished height of the building. We had to go through town planning as our building was over 7m in height. Also have to take into consideration any cut and fill that has happened on the site. Good Luck! Re: Anyone has 9 feet ceiling for 2nd floor? 3May 04, 2011 8:48 am Yep, I have 9 foot ceilings on my second floor, but I also have 10 foot ceilings on the first floor. It does give it a very grand and open feel. I have also opted for taller doors (2340 high) throughout the house and tall doors with low ceiling would not have cut it. Re: Anyone has 9 feet ceiling for 2nd floor? 4May 04, 2011 10:06 pm Yep, we are having 9 ft on the second floor. We have 9ft downstairs in the bedroom, study, home theatre but the kitchen, meals, family is 11ft. Had no concerns with council with respect to the height. Re: Anyone has 9 feet ceiling for 2nd floor? 6May 06, 2011 8:51 pm Thank you everyone who have answered it, great to know that most people opted for higher ceiling too for 2nd floor. I'm still considering it, but thanks for all the comments!! They make the room much easier to clean for one, reflect more light (if light colour tiles are used), and you dont end up with dust on the top edge of tiles (cause most… 3 9593 Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13587 |
