We've just received the invoice for fit-out and when I last saw the house 10 days ago there was nothing in so unless they have been through the house like a dose of salts I can't see they would really have reached fit-out stage?? What should I expect to be completed at that stage??? Help

Not sure what you mean by "Fit Out" stage.
We are at the enclosed stage whereby they are doing the roof, windows, gutters, bricks etc and then once that is complete we will move to the Fix stage whereby all the internal stuff is done like the plasterboard, doors, cupboards, tiles to wet areas and after that is the Fit Off stage which is when the install the kitchen and benchtops and what have you. Once all this is done all that is left is practical completion.
If you say there is nothing in the house then I am not sure what stage Fit Out would be. Have you been back since the 10 days to see what has been done. Sometimes nothing can happen to days and then suddenly it all happens at once.
We have been waiting since before Easter for our roof to go on. Half went on before they ran out of tiles. Remainder was delivered today but in the meantime they have done the air conditioning, electrical and plumbing works and next week they are going to start the bricking and plasterboards.
We usually do not get the invoice for each stage until that stage has been completed.

Not 100% sure, but i think most builders have in the contract that your site must be clear of vegetation before work begins.
