Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 03, 2011 8:31 pm Ok, so I have done a lot of searching and reading on here but can't quite find the answer I'm looking for, apologies if it has already been asked and I've missed it! We are having three phase power to the meter box put in by the builder (I don't even know why we got it, my partner and his sparky friend decided it was a good idea ) Do we have to connect to three phase power when it comes to connecting to Synergy? It's probably a stupid question! I've started looking at air con, and three phase is more expensive to install and doesn't have any obvious savings on running costs, so I don't really want to get it if we can help it, but I don't understand how all this stuff works! Can we get the three phase to the meter but not utilise it unless we have to in the future, thus allowing us to install a single phase air con unit? My brain hurts! Re: Question for electrically minded people! 3May 03, 2011 9:56 pm three phases air conds should be cheaper. If you are finding them more expensive its because you are looking at higher capacity units so you are not comparing apples with apples. As per the previous post if you have three phase you can still get single phase appliances. Re: Question for electrically minded people! 4May 03, 2011 10:46 pm Thanks guys! Probably should have put this in Heating and Cooling..oops! Does that mean when I connect to my electricity supplier I should connect to single phase only? Or go ahead with the three phase, pay the upgrade to Synergy and then just connect single phase air con? If you do not have three phase wires to your power box installed you have only single phase options available untill you upgrade to three phase at a cost. If it is not too expensive then go with the three phase connection to the power box and you can make the choice later on what AC you want - either single or three phase... On that front the larger the house, the more likely you will need three phase power Or for the technical Power = Voltage x Current So for the same amount of current moving down your wires you can get more power to heat or cool... I hope that this helps SOS You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9960 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6151 1 13125 |
