Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 30, 2011 12:23 am Hi Everyone, After hours of trawling the website and the horror of finance behind us i can finally join the masses on here as a first time home builder. We are building an Eden Brae Saville with the Birmingham facade (a freebie which didn't look too bad). My crisis is now that we have been through the colour consultation i realise i don't really like any of the colours i picked! I wanted to get some thoughts on an exterior colour plan. I am thinking ...... A barramundi roof Ironstone gutter, meter box and rainwater tank. Is ironside grey or on the blue side? Dune fascia and down pipes. Dune or something very close render. I am undecided on the whether to have a feature colour on the front portico. What do you think? Any suggestions would be great suggestions as i am quickly running out of them. One area that i have become a little stuck on is the windows. Airlite colours are few so my thoughts are either birch white or notre dame grey. I really want to have shutters which are close to white on the inside. But am worried about having grey windows with white shutters. I haven't seen too many in my hundreds of hours driving around stalking houses for colour inspiration! Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated! Re: Colour Crisis 2Apr 30, 2011 12:10 pm Ironstone has a definite blue tinge to it, but colours vary depending on the light. If I break the colour down into CMYK, it has 66% cyan. I think the Birmingham example on Eden's site has too many different colours going on. Re: Colour Crisis 3Apr 30, 2011 2:34 pm Hi TJTAM and welcome to the forum. I'd go for the white windows... they'll pop and look really fresh with the other colours. Just remember that you will also see the window frames from inside and it will create nice continuity with the white shutters. What colour bricks are you going for? Or is the entire front of the house going to be rendered? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
