Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Bricks 11Jan 07, 2008 8:47 pm We used Austral bricks and our brick flavour was "Ghost Gum". We liked the colour on the display board, but when the bricks went up we hated them, cos they had red splodges on most of them!!! You cant really see the red in them once they went up and the mortar dried. But now we love them again. If I really hated it to the point of wanting to rebrick the house, then we were just going to render the whole lot!!!
[/img] Re: Bricks 12Jan 07, 2008 9:01 pm I asked Austral for some houses that have been built in some bricks that I liked and they said there wasn't any because they were new release bricks! how annoying, I guess If you think they look ok you just have to take a leap of faith.
Oh and I worked out how to resize my avatar, it is me now. Re: Bricks 13Jan 07, 2008 9:12 pm Well done with your avatar Michelle, looks great!!!
We did the same with our bricks,, but ours are with Selkirk...our first selection (Austral brick) had not been released yet and was still in production building up stocks!!! Our second choice had just been released so we went with that instead. We had to wait until they started building homes to confirm the colour though, we also picked up a few bricks and stacked them to see what they would look like then made our mortar selection based on that.... Go with your gut, if you can visualise it, it will be fine.... Where abouts are you building???? We're with H3nley too, building in The Chase in Berwick... Re: Bricks 14Jan 07, 2008 9:17 pm We are building at Cascades on Clyde, on Berwick - Cranbourne Road, Titles arent going to be released till may, so we won't be able to start till July Re: Bricks 15Jan 07, 2008 9:35 pm So virtually neighbours then.... who was your sales rep at H3nley????
You'll probably have the same Customer Service Rep based in Narre Warren Sth that we do..... We've driven past there, it's going to be lovely when it comes together!!!! I suppose you're hanging out till May???? What happens in regards to pricing, are they going to hold it until May or are you susceptible to a price rise after the 3 month period deposit period???? Re: Bricks 16Jan 07, 2008 9:42 pm Our sales rep is Sandra, she is really lovely, Yes the price will stay the same, I think the estate will be really lovely, its going to have recycled water so everyones gardens and lawns will be green, It's also a smart wired estate which is great too.

I hate the brick websites you just can't tell what they look like very good, it's much easier to see If someone has taken a pic of them, I know what you are going through Aussiebell. We have been trying to decide on a brick now for weeks on end and have been scouring the suburbs with adresses provided by Boral to see what the bricks look like on a grander scale rather than just a small display wall. I think we have changed our minds now 6 times! There is light at the end of the tunnel.... Arrrgh! The whole brick thing is so frustrating, as the real things don't looks like the photos, and the delivered bricks don't look like the ones on display, and this batch looks a bit different to that batch.
The closest thing you will get is to see a house built using those bricks - one nice old lady was about to call the cops when she saw us "casing" her joint a few months back. Of course in your case, there are no houses built with the new range of bricks - but I'd be asking if there are any orders, so you can see them delivered on site, even if the house isn't completed. Cheers! DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair to do it properly you need to dig out the garden and waterproof the outside of the wall.
