Michelle I think I have heard quite a lot of good comments from New Home Inspections too. Especially for Kevin.. I am thinking of using them when building my home too... ___________________ Building with Carlisle Homes, Montrose 36 in Point Cook http://www.pointcookfb.blogspot.com/ Re: Inspector 4Jul 25, 2011 7:27 pm I can not stress enough of having ur own inspector. I'm building with Henley and have had problems and now only fixing them after my inspector pointed them out. Be on top of it. There are a couple of inspection company's who have really good feedback. Darbecca is one and Accuform is another. One is more expensive than the other but you have to weigh up whats good for you. But well worth the money spent, definately need to keep them honest. Re: Inspector 5Jul 27, 2011 9:27 pm We are planning on getting an independent home inspector. Reality is, how good can a builder's quality of workmanship be if they are building in volume and have sub contractors doing the job. Logic has it, not very high. Some may ask me why build then...well this was before I discovered there was so much more to building then just signing a contract and letting them just build. Everyone whose building would have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on their new home, so if the house is not built well, who will lose out? Definitely not the builders. Apologies for sounding pessimistic about it all. But to sum it up, although we have not started building yet, I would definitely recommend it, even if its just for for a piece of mind. Personally, I would rather pay now, then have the headache later on, discovering all the lovely surprises and hidden extra costs of fixing it all. Just my thoughts. I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2278 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45560 If you already have a contract, is the inspection cost stated in there? If not they would be forced to issue you a variation which you could of course object to. 12 25881 |
