Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 26, 2011 6:12 pm Hello everyone We have been looking at displays and plans for a few months, have purchased our block and are keen to get signed on with a builder. At the moment, we're talking closely to MetroStyle, Celebration Homes and New Generation. They all have plans that are close to what we want but need a few adjustments. Each of them are currently resketching to meet our needs and will be back in touch with revisions to plans and prices in the next few days. A close friend has had a nightmare experience with MetroStyle and I only found this out after we talked with them in quite some depth. So now we're really wondering. Their price is right at the limit of our budget too. We've heard all good things about Celebrations and it's encouraging to know they are from the group that includes W&B-N and APG. A good friend in the industry also tells us that the Celebrations supervisor in our area is a really good one and we know that's really important. Celebrations also offer a nice short build time (22-24 weeks!) and whilst that could be a worry, he said they achieve that by owning all their own tradies and can have them ready to go back to back (is this right?). Not too keen on the fact that we are being pressured to sign up before the end of month (within 5 days of initial chats!!) because he said the prices may go up and even he doesn't know if they will go u until they do... this sounds like a bit of rubbish to me... (?) The New Generation plan we are looking at is very promising, as is the price. I get a really good feeling from the idea of building with them and we like the fact that they are part of the Summit group. We are also considering looking further into Red Ink, Switch, Plunkett and Ross North, although some of these may be beyond our budget. For one reason or another, we have ruled out Homebuyers, Colliers, Commodore, Dale Alcock, Affordable Living, Blueprint, Gemmil, Aussie Living and Premiere. We'd be keen to hear about experiences, good and bad, with those we are still looking at, and in particular, Celebrations, New Generation and MetroStyle. Thanks! Re: Choosing a Plan and Builder in WA - Advice Needed 2Apr 26, 2011 7:56 pm Had friend who built with New Generation and another with Celebrations. Both were happy but I believe the Celebrations build was quicker but they did have a lot of stuff ups (wrong roof tiles were installed and had to be changed). We were going to go with Affordable Living but we eventually turned away from them as they were extremely pushy with us. We ended up going with Ideal Homes which have been pretty good so far but we are still early on in the process. Don't like the sound of that!! Thanks for your feedback Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget.
